My take at Rid's backing

Re: My take at Rid's backing

I for one really dug it - I like the improved jazz thing and I think you are right to mention that it is only improv vs. a written song. Its one heck of an improv - very nice.
Nuntius I do get the feeling you like his playing and are only trying to help - it might also help to point out the parts that you think he did well - but like I said I don't sense that your dogging him but just trying to help him.

Re: My take at Rid's backing

i do like his playing, he's a beast!

doesnt mean i cant critiscise the parts i thought could have been better :)

i think you (diminsihed D 7th) should put up that track you just sent me the link to - i really liked that :D

Re: My take at Rid's backing

are you sure you're 15? :laugh2: nice work man

Re: My take at Rid's backing

I'm very impressed with your technique. I liked your tone, also. You're on the brink of being dangerous, man.

Re: My take at Rid's backing

OMG! Wow, Dim7... you are an awesome guitarist. Not one bad note and it flows. Great build up and flawless execution. I love your style! :yourock:

Re: My take at Rid's backing

not bad dude. kudos. especially for improv. and i tend to agree, that you may have the good for the future, as others have said.

i personally liked most of the fast playing you did. (shredder at heart) some of it was searching, but that can be the nature of improv. the biggest things i could tell you, would be to me accurate with the bends (a few were slightly off) and play with some more confidence. some of the notes sounded hesitant. remember, in guitar, it the expresion of emotion. you can rarely be wrong when playing from the heart.

i would also like that backing to mess with, if someone would be kind enough to link it in my inbox here? thanx!!!

good luck diminished!

thanks very much again tonebro's! it means a great deal to me.

lastwinj- i totally understand what you're saying. its great to hear that from someone because there are somethings you cant recognize when listening to your own playing.
thanks!

I'm with him...simply put, dude, you rock. :)

A little fluff here and there, but nothing that the other 3 minutes can't make up for. Great work. +1 fan.

Re: My take at Rid's backing

might be so.

i think its just the fact that we have less gear and therefore spend more time actually playing :D

I'm really glad you said that as I've been arguing that for ages. Take a look at who has the most gear - and you'll see a million photos - but no clips.

Re: My take at Rid's backing

it was a theory of mine at first. but it kept proving itself over and over.
this certainly doesnt apply to everyone. but it does sometimes and it annoys me a great deal.

Re: My take at Rid's backing

OMFG, you STILL amaze me! I thought that was excellent, it even sounded like Dio in some parts. My guitar teacher HATES shredders, but I think he would love you because your chops are soo musical. Something he does is, makes me improvise stuff and I have to tell him what sucked about it. At first it's really sort of depressing, hehe, but then after a while, you get used to criticizing your own works and they get better and better.

I remember when DSS was fairly new to the forum and I decided to scare him with the sheer skill of SD forum dudes, so I sent him a clip of your old Symphony X stuff and needless to say, DSS was quite amazed!

I thought you hated Ibanez guitars? Remember when everyone got on my case waaaaaay back when I sold my Gibson LP Custom for a Prestige Ibanez RG? :) Nice to see you're sporting DiMarzio's too!

You've kicked my ass in the past, and you're still kicking my ass in the present. Keep kicking ass! :) :) :)

Oh by the way, remember that BiZarro Kelly Shredder guy I told you about a long time ago that lives around here? Well, he can exactly imitate the style of Jimmy Page and Joe Perry now!!! :blackeye: The crazy thing is he get's a brand new rig everytime I see him play :yell:
