Re: My Turn For 5150 Clips - Doomish Metal

I like the Peavy with the TS, but dont care for it when you had t in front of your Mesa, made it too thin. I still like the Mesa clips more. But I am more into brighter tones in general. Peavy is just a little too darkly voiced for my taste, but still great.

Re: My Turn For 5150 Clips - Doomish Metal

this tone is better than any other clips that i heard from you !!!.cool riffage and nice melodies.!!!

Re: My Turn For 5150 Clips - Doomish Metal

Thanks guys! I'll get some pics up later, but it's nothing special. I don't even keep the head on the cabinet. :laugh2:

Just one SM57, don't have the pre's or mic's to deal with condensors!

BGJ, I know what you mean about the Mesa... it's definately way brighter, way harsher on the top end... I dug it, but the lead tone was utter ****, and the mid voicing was all wrong for my style of playing. I'd love to have a MKIV, though.

Wicked clip Jeff, I wouldn't really call it doom-ish(when I think doom I think YOB) reminiscent(sp?) of Opeth in parts.

Re: My Turn For 5150 Clips - Doomish Metal

When I think of Doom, I think of Daylight Dies, early Katatonia, Novembers Doom, My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, etc...

The Opeth comparison is awesome, though!

BTW, I recently joined at sevenstring.org as a result of you mentioning it here and there.

I'm contemplating selling my RG570 and replacing it with an RG seven string...

Yeah, I sort of left what you listed(Doom metal, traditional I suppose) behind when I hit the insanely long/heavy(think wall of sound) doom. If you ever have a bit of free time(and are looking for something 'different') listen to some YOB, or Electric Wizard. THAT is what I call DOOM.

About the Opeth comparison, I can REALLY hear it. I find it sticks right out(Meant in a good way).

Ok, that was some good sounding stuff! It sounds different to me than what I usually think of when I think of extreme metal. Kudos on the tone and the playing nigga!!

As usual another kick ass clip!! ~0:43-1:00 was just killer too, my favorite part for sure! that part has a very classic metal (for lack of a better term) vibe to it which you know is more my style. the main lead line is great also, simple yet has a great vibe to it. nice work!!

Thought this would be in the vein of some old Sabbath, I was wrong, but it's cool nonetheless!

Re: My Turn For 5150 Clips - Doomish Metal
