My two carved top double cutaway guitars

I like natural finishes, I like colors. So, what's better than build one carved top dual cutaway? Yeah, two.

So. Here are my two carved top dual cutaway models. The left one has a singlepiece padouk body with a bit of sapwood. Padouk/wenge/padouk neck, ebony board. Seymour Duncan pickups (SH6/SH10 hybrid bridge, SH2/SH1 hybrid neck). The left is quilt sapele (a bit like koa, but with the smell of ceder <3 ) body with a ziricote/wenge/ziricote neck, ebony board and of course: the fuglybuckers. I altered the bridge pickup though: bye bye A2's, hello Ceramic 9 and A4!

Hope you enjoy them :)

Damn they look like they don't mess around and ready to rock your face clean off!

thanks! Yeah, theyre kinda 'take no prisoners'. I will mod the right one with a floyd rose, though. A floyd rose PRO due to the narrower spacing (the neck is slightly slimmer than usual).

OH and FYI: Yeah, I build them myself :)

Re: My two carved top double cutaway guitars

I want to see it after it's floyded! That will look massive along with that crazy fb pickup set.

Nice work indeed man.

Awesome. I wanna see more pics of the one on the right, that looks super cool. (Not that the left one doesn't, you do great work!)

Re: My two carved top double cutaway guitars

Ummm - where did these bodies come from???

Must be stronger than a C8.

I'll post pics when I installed the floyd and back plates. I'll show off that ziricote wenge neck ;)

Re: My two carved top double cutaway guitars

I really like padouk. I hear it is pretty irritating to work with, though. It is beautiful though.

Re: My two carved top double cutaway guitars

i don't have much issues with padouk, fortunately. W bye is worse. Cocobolo, moabi and purpleheart are the worst.

Re: My two carved top double cutaway guitars

Did you make a build thread for these that I missed, or is this the first you've posted them up? (They're gorgeous BTW)

No I didn't make a build thread. I make +- 30 guitars a year and maintaining so many threads would be a daily task :o I might have posted the left guitar before but never like this.

I'll post more of my projects, old and new, if yall wanna see it?

Re: My two carved top double cutaway guitars

Ok man, will do. But if you dive into my older threads, you'll see guitars I made. : )I'm working on a few projects that are so f'in cool! My take on a '59 LP (the best parts are in, the worst are out), my take on a tele-paul for a VERY special friend (you'll scream when you see who it will belong to) and later in the year I'll start a 6-guitar project: 6 shapes/designs, each with timbers from just ONE continent. An homage to planet Earth (while we still can...).

I'm also working on two carved top solid maple strats (one quilt, one flame; both with floyd roses, HSS setups, maple neck).

and pfiew... what else? You'll see a few soon!
