Yeah it's rusty, but that is what makes it sound so good!! Snapped this at a gig last week. What is lost in the pic, is the trapezoid head and cab, total space age, which blends perfectly with the V. Gibson was all about the future, back in the early 60s....

lol those old gibbys are pretty damn ugly, well i enjoyed mine while i had it and i know you are loving it too. i wish i was out of college with money. I hope you are enjoying your traynor too...

Re: My ugly amp!!

A guy I know has a gibson head like that but he said it was a mercury. He used it with an old marshall 4x12, it sounded freakin great, he was pushin it with a fulldrive II. He said it was modded but I'm not sure what he did to it. What mods did you do kevlar?

They are ugly, in a I can't take my eyes off it way.. I just love them. Had the Mercury down to rehearsal tonight ( Have three gibsons, 2 Atlas and the Mercury) The Traynor after some tweaks is finally inspiring to the ears. Really in love with it now. One day you will own all the cool toys. At 29 I had a Valvestate and a Squier Strat. Kinda reinvented myself over the past few years... MUCHO FUN!!

A thing of beauty in my book.

I have a couple shiny ones, but I love this lil rusted monster. I get some great reactions at shows, both before and after. Funny stuff....

I have a Mercury too. That amp took a lot more work to get dialed in. I don;t think either the Atlas or Merc sound good stock. Mainly I upped some cap values quite a bit, with the Mercury, it was both harsh on the top and muddy on the bottom. Really took me a while to figure that one out. I just kept trying different values til it sounded right.

Re: My ugly amp!!

A few of those mid-60's Gibsons (Saturn 45RVT, Apollo) have twin-T filters in the tone stack, which give them a pretty weird response. They sound a lot better if you pull a lot of those parts...the 6EU7 tubes are getting to be a problem too (scarce and very $$$).
