My Winter project 04'/05' has begun !

I've had Flying V G.A.S. for a while. I got this off ebay for a song !
It's is/was a Epi Goth model ( I had that Nasty black paint of it B4 the
UPS truck was off my block LOL!) Epiphone's website claims the Goth
model's are made w/t Mahogany Neck and Body? No way the neck on
this thing is Mahogany ! (Looks like Maple to me?) And the body is
Mahogany Like? But it looks more like Black Korina (Limba) I don't know?
I was hoping to do a Light Amber finish, But the Black stricks in the grain
ruin that Idea. Now I'm think'in about a Veneer and convert it to a bottom
loader? We'll see?

I think it'd be cool lookin with a silver sparkle/haloflake finish with a mirror pickguard, but that's just me. Something flame top finishes on V's and Explorer's just doesn't look right to me.

Yeah, One of these's days I'd like to do something in a Sparkle/holoflake.
(like the Wattage tele done by Butnut) But right now I not geared up for
that kind of work yet! I'm looking into getting a HVLP spray gun Tho.
Another problem is that stuff is only available in Ureathane. I love working
with Nitro and doing Burst work so that's the direction I'll be heading in.
I'm still up for other idea's

Something (about) flame top finishes on V's and Explorer's just doesn't look right to me.

Hey Jolly, there is always Quilted Maple!

KMC, are you still considering an Amber finish on the maple top?

Ummm, I like the Quilted maple Idea ! My Wife informed me that I already have a Flamed Maple Amber guitar (Tele) and I should do something different.
Right now the Blue Burst idea is in the lead. I also might try my hand at some
Inlay work ? Some Block inlay's would look sharp!! I can't stand that stupid
roman numaral VII on the 12th fret. I have a POS neck to practice on. This
thing should keep me busy for a while. :burnout:

Let me know how the inlay work goes. I have an idea I want to try, but I've never done inlays.
