Mysterious Dents

All my guitars have those same dents, on that same side--bottom, between the output jack and the strap button. I'm not aware of any mechanical habit that I can attribute this to. All my guitars share the same one guitar stand, could it be that?

Damn. Must be the stand. I just put my guitars back in their cases between breaks with the case opened or closed.

Most stands I have come across look flimsy and lots of friend's guitars flop out of them often.

A nearly identical set of "dents" has been found in the ground on the acres surrounding Stonehenge. I wonder if something larger is at play here?

Maybe completely missing the jack with the cable? I don't even see how a stand can cause that.

It must be a stand with random sharp objects protruding from the surface upon which the guitar rests...... or it's back to the Stonehenge thing.

I agree. The location of the dents, the fact that all your guitars have them, and the fact that you use one stand seems to point at the stand.

But...

Unless your guitars are made out of Play-Doh, it seems like it would require a lot of excess downward pressure to cause the dents from a stand... much more than just gravity and the weight of the guitar.

Are they on both sides of the pin?

Have you examined the part of the stand on which the guitars rest?

Do you always use the stand or is there another place (say at home) where you typically set the guitar?

Do you have a tendency to miss the output jack with the cable?

Does someone else play (or play with) your guitars?

Do you play someplace slightly cramped where you run into something (like a desk or coffee table) often?

If the stand was purchased at a shop cant see a problem. All the stands I have and have seen come with protective tube foam in areas where protection is needed. I have 3 stands that are very similar in structure never had an issue.
