Mystery Hole (Neck Pocket/Neck Pickup)

Why would a body have a hole routed between the corner of the neck pocket and a corner of the neck pickup route?

If a guitar had the Microtilt system, were those ever grounded using a wire there?

EDIT: Think I figured it out- probably the start point of the hole drilled between the neck pickup & control cavity.

That’s it. It’s often easier to drill a hole from the neck pocket through the two pickup cavities.

Any other holes in the neck pocket? Might be the hanging hole for painting

Yup, it's for the neck pickup wiring.

On some guitars you can connect all the cavities and the grounding point for the bridge with a single well placed drill bit.

Or maybe it was so that your guitar was just under the maximum weight. :D

Maybe it was a boring beetle

Termites?

Is the guitar candy apple red? Worms?

Still probably what Dave said
