Mystery Wire!

I've gone back to my old ibanez (S370DX) HSH, hoping that I would FINALLY wire it up and get it running. As I went to put the bridge pup in, I noticed a wire running through it's slots and into the cavity.

So here's the problem: I don't know what it's from, and I'm too lazy to take out 2 pups to find it! :laugh2: :smack:

The wire is a single black conductor.
The neck pup is a '59 2-conductor, and the middle pup is a Duckbucker.
The duckbucker's wires are all in one shielding, like usual, so I'm thinking that it is coming from the guitar itself? As far as I know, the Duckbucker has a red, white, and bare.
The tremolo is already grounded, that's a seperate wire.

Where is this mystery wire coming from!?

Re: Mystery Wire!

Wait, I think I remember it being soldered to the body (maybe metallic/shielding paint?)

If so, to where would it be connected on the other end?

Re: Mystery Wire!

Probably something else that is (or at least should be) grounded , for ex a PU cavity.... ;)

Solder it to a pot casing.

Can I suggest you get a meter and try some basic diagnostics? ;)

It would help a lot
