Yamaha Pacifica is one of very very few guitars I miss. Mind you - mine was high end (PAC712)...but still, not that different from the any of their guitars. Nothing but love for Yamaha., I currently have two acoustics.

oh yeah - White Dimarzio PAF Pro in the bridge for the win.

Sweet grab. Looks to be a 112J. Any chance it is a Taiwan made model? Should have a decal on the back near the bottom of the body. I have close to a dozen assorted Pacificas and still think they are the best bang for the buck and mod platform. Stock tuners on all of mine are more than adequate. Pick a pickup(s) and you have a keeper. Congrats on the find.

Re: N.G.D., Gotta Love Yard Sales!!!

Yeah it's just a 112...

I'll tell you though, even though it isn't one of the higher end Yamaha guitars it plays every bit as good & every bit as good as guitars way out of it's price range!!! I mean I absolutely love the neck on this thing, just awesome!!! It's in basically brand new condition because the original owner was one of those dudes that had a mid life crisis, thought he wanted to start playing guitar cuz it gets chicks, then he realized it was hard & that he was too old &/or poor for a 20 year old girlfriend anyway, so he never really played it. Luckily for me he thought that it was a nice enough guitar to buy a used hard case for, which is where it's spent the majority of its life!

I'm still not sure how far I'm going to go with the modifications yet? I might just drop in some new puppies & re-wire it with some quality components but the spirit of the guitar & the fact that I spent so little on it almost makes me want to take it even further!!!

I'm kinda thinking it might be a good candidate for some re-shaping! Do something with the headstock & sand it down, perhaps shorten the top horn some? I actually like the natural finish so that's probably staying but I wouldn't mind changing the body from satin to glossy? I'd normally change the tuners & that cheesy plastic nut but the tuners are on par with any MIM, perhaps better, & I'm hesitant about messing with the nut because it's cut really well & functions perfectly! I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it, right???

Re: N.G.D., Gotta Love Yard Sales!!!

Lol. I have a couple of new Graphtech Black Tusqu nuts that have been sitting on my dresser for weeks because I am not having any problems with the stock ones but figured better safe than sorry. The part number for them is PT-6225-00 in case you need it. Your's is the natural finish alder body so it should have the decent factory sealed tuners. You stole that thing for $40 ! Case is worth more than that. The necks are great unless you have really large hands and play a lot of cowboy chords. There are a couple of companies on flea bay/reverb that sell assorted color ed pickguards with practically any pickup configuration you might want in case you need them. The guitar has a swimming pool route so you can throw in just about any combination of pickups you want. I bought a couple of blank h/s/s pickguards from a company out of China....I know....I know...but $13 delivered in 7 days...three ply with perfect hole aligment.....? No complaints here. Then I snagged a prewired/loaded strat pickguard from GFS and swapped everything over to the new yamaha pickguard . Just sunk the extra tone pot in the control cavity, hooked up the ground and input jack and done.

What not just buy it for the $50? You knew its value but still had to grind the guy down? WTF?
