N.G.Y. binge gutiar buys this year (mostly vintage shredsticks)

Just thought i would share all the guitars i have bought this year with a little story about each

1988 Charvel Model 3dr. Found on craigslist paid $450 has Screamin' Demon bridge and Lil' 59 in the neck. Thing plays like a dream. Im still on the fence about the Screamin' Demon-has great note definition and clarity but not enough output for my tastes

2016 Charvel San Dimas Pro Mod-did a straight trade for a 2011 Les paul studio i had that i really didnt like. Guitar was bought new by the previous owner and mint condition. It needs a setup-way too low and with .009 gauge strings....JB/59 combo for pups

1995 Charvel San Dimas II Koa. I have been wanting one of these since they came out. I bought a Lacewood model I when it first came out and never liked the tone. I played one of these a few months after and was blown away. This guitar needs a setup badly since it was basically "wall art" for nearly 20 years. Mint bone stock condition.

1989 Epiphone USA Pro I-what an awesome shredstick! I absolutely love this thing. All original Licensed Schaller made Floyd rose, Bill Lawrence Pups i am on the fence with. I have an MJ wound Full Shred trembucker that i may replace it with. Neck pup is not the greatest-may replace or rewind. Seems to be a specific size that a Duncan would not fit (opinions?)

Kramer Focus 3000-Just picked this up today for $250. this has to be one of the last they ever made. the truss rod cover says "F-3000". Bridge Pup is a Dimarzio Fred and it sounds like ass. I may swap the screamin' demon from the charvel into this one. Other than that its a fine guitar. MIJ at the ESP plant apparently.

Kramer American Showster Savant 1+1. what an odd duck. Found this at a local Guitar Center that some old dude was trading in. I inquired about what they were going to ask for it. They said $109. I was like "SOLD!". Wierd Nightswan-ish pickup configuration and had lots of fret wear. It had (later to find out) an MJ wound Duncan Distortion trembucker and a Parallel Axis MJ wound neck Pups so that is what i really wanted. I had a JB/59 set i bought cheap so i had them swapped and the guitar set up. The tech at guitar center could not get the guitar set up properly so he offered a free fret replacement. I said "absolutely"!!!! now the guitar plays great but this is just a "flip" guitar (if anybody is interested let me know)

1993 Les Paul Limited Edition (studio). Yet another rare/odd yet amazing guitar. This originally had p-90s in it but previous owner replaced with Dimarzio super distortion soapbar pups. Let me tell you...wow! sounds incredible. Insane low end and great not definition. Easily the best Dimarzio pups i have ever heard. This one is really a Studio but has an ebony fretboard-very nice feature. 20170420_001942.jpg

All nice but I love the look of the epi most

The Epiphone shredder looks interesting, haven't seen one before.

You could probably get a normal single coil to fit in the slot, as long as it doesn't have the flanged vintage style base.

The dimarzio i pulled from my charvel spectrum had that excess part cut off to make it fit.

And I thought I had GAS,lol! :D
Seriously, congratulations with some real nice buys mate! You got yourself 6 nice shredsticks! (I am not into LP's at all myself, that's why I mention 6)
The Charvel on the left and the Epi appeal to me the most. Enjoy them mate!! :beerchug:

Vintage? I was thinking 60's Wes Montgomery, or a Tal Farlow.

I kind of thought the same thing but the place i take my guitars to for repairs says that it shouldnt or cant be done. I have a SD Hot Rails that would be perfect there but it has that flange. Maybe get an SD custom floor model? something like a Quarter Pounder without the flange would be perfect if i want to keep it single coil.

Re: N.G.Y. binge gutiar buys this year (mostly vintage shredsticks)

the qp and custon strat pups dont have the flange usually

The flang-less hot rail didn't fit in my fusion but i believe some sd single pickups do.

Here's that modded dimarzio.

Another way to do it is by cutting away with a router inside the cavity to allow the flange to sit in like a tunnel.. You can leave the top as normal but i never could bring myself to do it on my guitars.

I actually straight-up traded the Aqua colored Kramer today for a near mint 1995 black Les Paul Studio all original. That Kramer i got really really cheap so i say this is a trade-up in my mind.

What a great batch!! Never heard of that epi model before.. Id love to have all the Kramers and Charvels!! Had a couple model 4s but sold em. Been wanting a Kramer showmaster for years

Nice job, keep up the good work!
I like the 88 3DR and the 89/90 F3000. I date it at that because I just picked up an 88 F3000 two weeks ago and I just noticed that yours is a little later than mine because it has the alternate mini toggle location. Nice score, very underrated guitar. I have an American Pacer Deluxe (both CandyApple) and they are the same guitar, except the American has Seymour's and Schallers and strap locks, and the F3000 has Seymour Designed and Gotohs. Neck are the same MIJ 3pc ESP necks with only the truss rod route being more squared on the F3k..

I envy the San Dimas Koa. Could you post a full pic?
