Picked this beauty today. 1980 Les Paul KM #47 of 1500. She's got some dings here and there, but other than that ugly scar on the top it's in pretty good shape for 37 years old. It's hard to tell in the picture but the finish is wine red, even in person I thought it was black until I was holding it in my hands. Picture makes the plastic look white but it's cream, including the original double cream T-Tops. I will report back on the sound after a string change setup and a chance to play at high volume through my Mesa

That colour is I think more like an oxblood - my 1980 deluxe is the same thing. Its hard to get a pic where the redness comes out and it looks all but black in some light.

Very nice!! Congrats!! Can tell its not black. Do agree with prev post that it looks more like oxblood. Bet she rips

Very nice. I'm jealous.

So it's a refin? I'm reading they came in Antique (dark) burst, Cherry sunburst and Natural originally? I love the oxblood/dark cherry/wine, but just wondering. Looks very nice.

I'd guess incorrect online documentation before a refin. I've seen too many LPs from the late 70s / early 80s in that color for it to be coincidental.

Yes, I was thrown off by the latches on the chainsaw case, my '81 Custom's chainsaw case has metal latches.

I've been reading that too, but if time is a refinish they went all out, the insides of the control and switch cavities are the same color.

Fantastic look!! absolutely stunning!! The double cream T-tops are pretty rare. Bet it was built at the end of 79 and out from the factory the first couple of months of 80. Legend tells that only few double cream T-tops were wound in Kalamazoo during 79, before the heritage series and Tim shaw pickups. real beauty. let us know how it sounds..

Re: N(U)GD 37yr old LP

I once tried an old as **** Greco SG with double cream T-Tops, believe it or not. :)
Through an old cranked JTM45 combo with everything on 10, and the SG in the bridge pickup with the tone rolled back to zero.
It freaking NAILED Sabbath Bloody Sabbath so well I couldn't believe it.
