NAD - back to the Bassbreaker

Some people just can't make up their mind!

So first I bought a Fender Bassbreaker 15 about 6 months ago;

then, some on the forum might remember my post about returning it before the Guitar Center 45 days timeline ended, and taking a Blues Junior instead.

Well, it didn't take very long to realize that wasn't the right move, at least for my musical style. I really started to miss it after a while and also started to hate the gain sound on the Blues Junior, or lack thereof. So I traded it for yet another Bassbreaker 15 during Guitar Center's recent trade-in promotion. I'm looking forward to trying out the effects loop too, as I know some have had issues with it. Really hope it works properly! So far loving this amp though. Happy reunion to me.

Cool. Use their return policy again, and add more cash for the Bassbreaker 45 212 combo. You may not want more volume, but the sound is bigger and richer.

Just a thought.

Not a bad idea there! Haha

Re: NAD - back to the Bassbreaker

I've heard good things about the Bassbreaker, but haven't tried one yet. What are your thoughts?

Re: NAD - back to the Bassbreaker

I think the problem is those amps use EL84 power tubes which are more Marshall than Fender sounding. Look for an amp with 6L6 or 6V6 power tubes if you want classic Fender sound.

Re: NAD - back to the Bassbreaker

Depends on which classic Fender sound you want. If it's classic Tweed sound, then that is a lot more Marshall sounding than Brown/Black/Silver Face anyway. Actually I would prefer 6V6s for a low watt Marshall type amp than EL84s, though.

Re: NAD - back to the Bassbreaker

That amp sounds great for what it is and has the silent recording XLR out mode that makes it extremely useful in the studio or apartment setting. The 45 watt is a great Plexiish amp for the money but doesn't have as much gain on tap OR the silent XLR mode so it's best for when you can crank it.

actually a brown deluxe is about as close to a marshall plexi tone in a small box as i have found. the black and silvers are much much different

I have heard that the studio version of Blue Sky was recorded with a Brown Deluxe. Looking at the 6G3 Deluxe schematic it is fairly similar to what would be a 6V6 Plexi.

Re: NAD - back to the Bassbreaker

neat, didnt know duane or dickey used brown fenders. i know the rev used a brown deluxe a fair amount

Re: NAD - back to the Bassbreaker

My obligatory Brown Deluxe post...
