NAD - Bought one I never should have sold

Snake Aces

Singlecut Slut
I found a great deal on this Traynor YCV50 Custom Blue. As you can see it's a little rough around the edges but I don't mind. I've owned this amp before and already am going to install my old Cannabis Rex in it along with some fresh tubes while switching it over to KT77's at the same time!

I got this amp delivered for $225 shipped. I'm really excited to fire it up and jam today!

Ooooo, C-Rex with KT-77's, that's going to sound good!

You know it! It's one of my favorite combos ever!

There will be a slight delay, I have to run to the hardware store as one of the screws has a stripped head and the other three are pretty warped. So, I will have to buy 4 new screws and try to find a solution in removing the one with the stripped head.

Added bonus: This puppy came loaded with a Celstion Vin 30, 8 ohm 12" speaker. Any takers? Highest bidder gets it! I did jam on it before I ripped it open and she sounds great like a perfectly broken in Vin 30 should! Vin 30's just aren't my bag anymore.

Trade you a 16 ohm vintage 30 for the 8 ohm.

No thanks on the vin 30 trade, but thanks for the offer! I am open to trades if somebody has something that sparks my interest but I don't want another vin 30

I thought about that right after I posted. Celestion V-Type 16 ohm?

Dude, 225 for that amp is a SCREAMING good deal. Congrats.

Re: NAD - Bought one I never should have sold

I have really wanted to try one of these amps for several years now, but I have never come across one. I am looking forward to hearing the results with the tube and speaker swap.

Congrats!

Congrats!

I occasionally miss my Custom Blue 50. Was a good little combo for some of the small gigs I was doing at the time. I eventually replaced it with a pair of YCS100H heads. I don't miss those.

I always wanted to get the red YCV40 combo too, but it just never happened. I ended-up replacing the Traynor heads with a Bogner Shiva had and a Fender Twin Reverb Reissue. They were definitely an upgrade. But I do find myself wishing that I still had the Blue around from time to time. For what you paid, that's an AWESOME amp.

Thanks man, they are sweet amps for the money but when you find a deal this good it's ridiculous! I almost have my home recording setup ready to go here for some clips.

I hear ya man. I have been meaning to switch to cabs and heads since moving back to the USA a few months ago and I've been in the market for a H&K Tubemeister 18, a Fender tube head at the right price and a Mesa head. However, when this YCV50 popped up at this price I had to pull the trigger on it! I have played on a few YCV40 combos, 3 black ones and one of the beautiful wine red ones. They are great amps, more along the lines of a Fender tone with cleaner cleans but less oompf behind the gain. They are also good amps for the money. I even threw some KT77's in one of the YCV40's too and I loved that tone too.

i saw a vid of someone took out a screw that had a stripped head with a drill and a small square of rubber from an old bike tire tube..i was like.. ohh that is kool as sh*t

Re: NAD - Bought one I never should have sold

MacGyver!

yes very macgyverish

Some page i liked on fb that has some really kool ways to build /fix stuff

it looked like it worked brilliantly.. i need to try that,, he tried it with a screwdriver too but it worked better with a drill

Re: NAD - Bought one I never should have sold

I just used a standard screw tapping kit but I think I prefer the MacGyver method

Re: NAD - Bought one I never should have sold

Those Traynes sound sweet! I love my little 'Dart 66' as a practice amp.
