Re: NAD: Cornell Romany Plus

theres like five knobs! thats totally gimmicky. wait, i missed the plus. theres SIX freakin knobs!

seriously though, thats a sweet ass amp

Re: NAD: Cornell Romany Plus

I've wanted one of those since forever, I have a bad cat mini cat and would like to pair it with a romany plus.
Guitar into boss' sd1-tr2-Dm3 withe the delayed signal into the bad cat and the dry into the Cornell, do you think it would be a loud enough rig to rehearse with a drummer?
Obviously no clean headroom but just mild overdrive

Re: NAD: Cornell Romany Plus

Thanks. Yes, it is. Leaves a guitarist feeling somewhat exposed.

BOSS SD1->TR2->DM3

I found that the vibrato function of the BOSS FDR-1 and Catalinbread Echorec go nicely. The MXR Uni-Vibe was a bit gurgly but that may have been the way that I set its controls. With the amp set for filth, adding an EHX Pitch Fork helps with the Neil Young "Hey, Hey. My, My" octaver sound.

Depends on the size of the room. Depends on the skill level of the drummer.

Depends on how the controls are set. The amp can get pretty filthy.

I already have a THD Hot Plate attenuator for use with my Fender HR DeVille 410. I need to devise a way to attenuate/DI the Cornell for home recording.

Nice amp. It solves my main problem with most tweed amps - a lack of EQ control and reverb.

Re: NAD: Cornell Romany Plus

Actually, the EQ defeat switch is pretty handy. Think of the boxy tweed Champ tone at the beginning of "Tell The Truth" by Derek & The Dominoes.

Re: NAD: Cornell Romany Plus

That is what the Cornell Romany does too.

This morning, I fired the amp up and pointed an SM57 at it. Forty five minutes later, I had the beginnings of a song. Plenty of Stones-y Stratocaster grind.

Re: NAD: Cornell Romany Plus

Cornells are great. Been after 1 myself for a long time.

I spent an hour talking with Dennis Cornell at a guitar show 2 or 3 years ago. Very nice bloke too.

Re: NAD: Cornell Romany Plus

Took the amp to my reclusive Blues maniac friend's place for a blast. He approved. He also wanted to steal my P90 Goldtop.

Raph. On an amplifier such as this, there is no need for switchable channels. Crank the amp volume control up for power stage saturation. Turn the guitar volume control(s) down to clean up. This is a "lumbering dinosaur" amplifier. Crusty would love it.

Re: NAD: Cornell Romany Plus

Just had the chance to try out the Cornell Vintage Brown 10.

In the words of British television presenter, Mark Evans, "ohhhhh, yes!"

The VB10 is the Romany Plus 10's Marshall-inspired cousin. The crunchy, singing, natural overdrive of an old Marshall is right there, on tap. Plug directly in and get on with it. I want one.

Re: NAD: Cornell Romany Plus

nice! there is something magic about a well build singled ended amp
