NAD - Epiphone Valve Custom 30

Picked this up for $349CAN on the weekend.

A bit bright, I'm not sure if I'm going to mod it or leave as is.

I can dial in a usable tone, but I can't help wonder how many more useful tones are available by removing a few components as described on many forums I've seen.

Even still, great tube amps if you can get passed the 70lb weight.

You think 70lbs is heavy for a 2X12 combo??? My little 1X10 weighs roughly 74lbs & it's only about half the size of the Epi Custom!!!

Re: NAD - Epiphone Valve Custom 30

Yeah, I was gonna say 70 lbs doesn't sound too bad, lol.

Regardless, cool amp! Congrats! :D

Re: NAD - Epiphone Valve Custom 30

If I ever have a 74lb. amp, I'd have wheels on it.

Not I. I'd do curls with it.

That's an expensive dumbbell.

Not if it has tubes, I wouldn't less it's in a shock resistant road case.
Pull the tubes and safe case them. Then, just wheel it in, then pop the tubes back in. Oua'la.

I don't move it around very often & if I do it's just to pull it away from the wall a bit to make sure the valves get ample air flow around them & sometimes I'll use it to record with. As for playing out I've got much lighter and cheaper amps that I can lug around with me.

If some drunk a$$hole spilled his beer and trashed my Supro not only would I be out a amp, but I'd have a broken guitar as well! Because I'd definitely have to break my guitar over they're head!!! Plus the bail money, lawyers, Etc., I think keeping it home is just best for everyone involved??? LOL....

My Egnater Rebel 30 is much lighter, even with the Extension cab. They're the same power and the Egnater has more tubes and stuff in it. Mind you, the Blues Custom has a spring reverb vs the Egnater's digital one and the Epi has a very ruggedly built cabinet.
