Re: NAD: Fender Blues Deluxe

Great amp either as is or with pedals. Here's the speaker I added:

I'm not sure whether the ext. cab is still available?

Re: NAD: Fender Blues Deluxe

Nice looking rig! I'll check to see if the extension cab is still offered....I'm finding that there isn't as much headroom as I thought, if I play thru the clean channel with the volume at 3 or above, I get some speaker distortion, but not in a good way, I'm thinking maybe the speaker is a little loose in the cabinet...

Re: NAD: Fender Blues Deluxe

I use a Eminence GB 128 it works great, I can even use the OD channel with bright on! I use the Bogner pedals and it rips

Try running the amp to your cab and see how the headroom is.

Cool amps regardless. Congrats! I have enjoyed the 3 or 4 I have played quite a bit.

I see there are still some listed on ebay.

It is a 'blues' amp so it's not as pristine clean as a twin, but I find it sufficiently clean for my tastes. In fact, I wish the 'drive' channel had a little more crunch on tap. I have to max the 'drive' knob to get only moderate breakup....pedals do the rest.

I did, I ran in into the Laney, and did not notice the speaker buzz at all, but, with Celestion Greenbacks in the Laney, was a little different sound than I was looking for, but still satisfied the test. Thanks to all for the great advice, I'm still putting this amp through its paces, but a speaker swap per ken361 may be what is needed...

Re: NAD: Fender Blues Deluxe

Thanks, I see you also have a Wampler pedal in your rig, I just picked up the Plexitortion (sp), incredibly impressed with the sound!
On the topic of Wampler, depending on your preferred sound, I highly recommend the '57 Tweed. That is if you like a wide range of Fender Tweed sounds.

Good to know! I have the Plexitortion, and the EGO Compressor is due to be delivered by the end of the week....Really impressed with the quality of the Wampler gear....

I got rid of that delay it made my tone brighter, may get another Alien Echo.

Re: NAD: Fender Blues Deluxe

Loved the original HRDx, I understand the tweeds are wired a little warmer?!? Either way, it's a way easy amp to modify to fit your tonal needs...

Re: NAD: Fender Blues Deluxe

What a great club rig. With 2 cabs you can aim one at the drummer or mike both and aim one against the wall for the sound bounce creating natural ambiance. Alot of possibilities and easy to pack around. Way to go!

More out of necessity than anything else, lugging around a half-stack or an 85lb Fender Twin was doing my spine absolutely no good.

Re: NAD: Fender Blues Deluxe

louder with that 2nd cab?
Certainly a perception of increased volume. For sure, it is a fuller sound with more bottom, but probably only slightly more db's if one were to measure it. Maybe I should measure it one of these days with and w/o the extension cab since I do have a sound meter....just out of curiosity.
