NAD - First Nice Amp

As some of you may already know, I've been expecting a new amp. I've placed an order on it nearly a month ago, and now I had the chance to pick it up.
For some time now, I've been thinking of getting a new amp to replace my 10 watt practice amp, and to replace the tradition of always using backline amplifiers every gig. I went through many choices, and found myself undecided. Came one day, I read a facebook post that a contact of mine was having an amp built and modified based on his liking. I contacted the builder, and the rest is history.

As the aesthetics show, this is a 50 watt Plexi clone with a master volume. It has Shuguang preamp tubes and JJ power tubes. There's quite a few differences from the prototype I tried at the builder's house. This one has an effects loop, is noticeably heavier, and has the aforementioned JJ tubes instead of Svetlana ones. Maybe it's because it was in the middle of a rainstorm last time, but I think that mines louder than the prototype... and my neighbor is a cop :omg:

I really can't wait to take this out to a jam, a rehearsal, or a gig.

Attempt to record the clean tone. Damn. Doesn't do this amp justice lol. There are people in the house and even in the same room. XD Can't play as loud as I'd like. This morning, I even played some audio through the amp as loud as my playing and walked around the house to see if it's loud enough to upset the neighbors. Thankfully, it's quite quiet outside the house

Now all you need is a variac. :naughty:
What I need is a smaller amp and a dumny load XD

Anyway, I just found out that my modulation pedals require the master volume set higher than the channel volume to work in the loop.

The DOD250 works wonders with this amp, though, and so does the RAT.

That seems weird... and also kind of a bummer? I would want to crank the channel with some phaser for VH leads man. Put them in front of the amp?

Nah. It doesn't have a line/instrument level button. Doesn't really bother me yet, and the maker told me to play around for a while and make a list of mods to perform afterwards.

I'll probably have him install a cascade knob as well...

Right now, if I feed my delay with 18 volts power, and set the amp up at gigging volumes, I get no problems at all.

Kinda sucks that my neighbor is a cop. I had to relay audio through the amp and walk around the house to make sure it wasn't too loud at "chimney cleans" level.

Nice rig. I'd invite your neighbor over to hear you jam. You never know, just cause one is a cop, does not negate an appreciation of music.
