Re: NAD Genz Benz El Diablo 4xEl34 100 watt
hey metal, i have heard all of budd's videos and have to say that he has to be the worst guy to dial in an amp. he demo'd countless great amps and managed to make most if not all sound like crap.
he doesn't eq them all equally (that is impossible to do with different sounding amps), plays through each of them instead of running the same signal via a mixing board. heck he doesn't even play the same thing on some of them.
oh, and the pics of the amps are not taken during usage. why do you think that they are all blacked out? they are photos taken from the web somewhere.
both the 5153 and 6505 sounded like butt. I have heard both personally sound better
the h&k triamp was waaaaay buzzy
the krank....... well...what can you say? it's a krank:banghead:
the mesa sounded typical to me. capable of better
how about the marshall? any bass? none? it sounded ballsy just no bottom end. kinda sounded like Rust in Peace era megadeth.
the only one i thought sounded good was the rivera. though i never heard one in person.
the genz benz sounded very thick middy and little else. having 2 myself, i don't hear it that way at all. the El D is a bass monster, so are the gflex cabs, yet that demo has very little bass coming thru.
if i relied on those clips to purchase an amp, i'd pass up just about all of them, including the El diablo.
I guess he set them where he thought they sounded best. which is the problem with the 'net in general and guitars and amps in particular; you need YOUR senses in the room experiencing it to make a decision like this.
I read all reviews (pro and forum based), comments, etc before i listened to any amps.
sometimes you need to filter some stuff or take with a grain of salt, things people say.
If you take away the glowing 100% smiles and the i just bought ths amp and i hate it reviews, you can get a good idea of what to expect.
i wanted an amp than could blur the lines between mesa, peavey, marshall and fender. and scored big time.
