Nad incoming

Well, I put on layaway a Marshall DSL50 and 1960a cabinet. I couldn't pass it up. Pics coming soon. I'll also be looking to sell some stuff to help fund it

Re: Nad incoming

Your guess what amp I got thread needs work......

All kidding aside. Good stuff. I really like channel 1. Maybe grab a voodoo man footswitch so you can foot select the orange channel.

Honestly if marshall gave it separate eq, maybe it 3 channel (green orange and red) it would compete with any marshall

Isn't that what the TSL is for? :D

Re: Nad incoming

I'm talking about if the only focused on channel 1 but gave it 3 gain stages with separate eqs.

Re: Nad incoming

Sorry to derail your thread. You get a good deal? Recommend trying a ei yugo in v1.

Re: Nad incoming

Well, shoot. Just went to check on the amp... It's a DSL 100, and an MC412A. Anyone got a review of that cabinet?

It's a particle board box with speakers that honestly aren't very good. Personally I'd find another cab unless it's a great deal and you REALLY need one.

It's a package deal, and I'll likely flip it and use my 1965A for now, and get a 1960A soonish.

Re: Nad incoming

The 100 watters sound good because they're fatter than the 50W, but you can reign in the volume by using a 212 cab and putting something with a volume control in the FX loop. It'll act as a global master, so you can bump up the Volume and Gain on the amp.

I'd probably sell the Marshall cab and get a Marshall 1936 cab, and then swap one of it's G75T's out for a V30. Or get an Avatar 212 with V30/H30 combo. Once your head is biased with really good tubes, you'll have all the Marshall tones you'll ever need in that rig.

Re: Nad incoming

When I need vintage Marshall tones, I've got the 50 watt Plexi combo I built, with a WGS Greenback and Heritage clone. This fits the bill for a higher gain amp I've been wanting, without being strictly a shred machine. The big 100 watt power section will give me the real think I want.

Re: Nad incoming

Congrats! The DSL50 is a great amp! In crunch mode of the green channel, mine held its own against my 2203X just fine. I ran an OCD in front of them to tighten things up and add that dynamic roar and both were just beasts.

I have an OCD, and I love it. But this Marshall is 100 watts... ;) The neighbors ought to love me.

Re: Nad incoming

Nice! I like Vintage 30's and G12-T75's in a X pattern with mine. If you ever get the chance to score another on the cheap, they are absolutely glorious ran in stereo!
