NAD incoming!

Oh man, I just sweet talked the wife into letting me pull the trigger on a 1960 Fender Super! Now I have to do the agonizing wait for it to ship!

It's had a lot of restorative work done so it's more of a player than a collectable. It's been retolexed and the grill cloth has been replaced. Has replacement OT and speakers (90's Emi blue frame alnicos) plus all the necessary cap and resistor replacement for a 58 year old amp. It was appropriately priced which was less than half market value for an "untouched" piece.

I love that I have something fairly uncommon. Brownface amps are seriously rare where I am.

Re: NAD incoming!

Is that one of the amps with the harmonic tremolo?

Re: NAD incoming!

Nice - I saw one on That Pedal Show with Joey Landreth - what a tone! Knowing I had no chance of finding one, I ended up with a Strymon Flint to scratch that particular itch (which it does very nicely).

Great catch - congratulations!

Well, it IS Joey Landreth after all!

I have my Flint at the end of my pedal board, so the harmonic trem is the last thing before pre-amp (with all mod, drive, Delay, reverb before it). I can add it to give the slightest sense of movement to my overall tone, or dial up the speed to get very close to Leslie speaker sim.

I’d tried several different trems in that position, as well as my Fulltone Mini Deja-Vibe (which much prefers being earlier in the chain) - none of them did what the harmonic trem does to the feel and tone. Gorgeous!

Congrats once again!

What an awesome score! Man, that one looks like it is restored to perfection. Now you have no excuse for not playing the heck out of it!

Enjoy that Bad Brownie.

Re: NAD incoming!

First of all, congrats on the amp!!

Not to hijack, but:

Secondly, what is harmonic trem? vs normal trem?

Looked up that Strymon pedal.. looks cool. Like the diff in the decade reverbs. Of course, mine would probably never be off of 80s setting...

Thanks

Harmonic trem modulates the sound as well as turning it on-off - kind of like a vibrato, but slightly different to the ear (not as sea-sick as a Univibe, for example) Kind of similar to Leslie modulation, but it’s own thing.

I have my Flint on the Plate (70s) setting mostly - I generally don’t have huge Reverb unless I’m going for something. Speaking of which, the infinite decay setting on both 70s and 80s modes is amazing for soundscape works.

Re: NAD incoming!

Sweet amp. Now about that statement referring to your wife letting you have it... :15:
