NAD:ip As the weather is getting colder.

Re: NAD:ip As the weather is getting colder.

Ha I thought i'd put that.

It's going to be a Ceriatone Yeti. So pretty much your standard hotrodded plexi affair

Re: NAD:ip As the weather is getting colder.

I needed a quick break from Resogun so I came and did a little more.

Re: NAD:ip As the weather is getting colder.

Impeccable work, as always. Is this for you or someone else? I would not have pegged you as a plexi person ...

Re: NAD:ip As the weather is getting colder.

I'm just doing it for the experience more than anything.

It isn't strictly a plexi as it also does hotrodded 800 and more modern sounds.

I doubt I will keep it though.

Trying to read it...just curious...who makes those Cool Looking Green Elytics.?

Re: NAD:ip As the weather is getting colder.

OH.....metal film, sorry...my mistake. I thought they were some type of Bi-Polar Electrolytic.
In my book...TAD and Mallory are industry standard. :fing2:
But Anyway.....thanks for the info.

Generally I always go for 150s or vishay 1813s in my builds. It's a nice change of pace having a load of different stuff that I wouldn't normally buy myself to muck about with.

Re: NAD:ip As the weather is getting colder.

Very nice looking work. I've been very curious about the Yeti and was within a few hours of pulling the trigger on one on Ebay this summer. Was hoping that it was a "poor man's Freidman BE" from the looks of it.

Anyways... I've got a Ceri RP 18/36 and a Ceri JTM45 and really like them both (though my blonde Fender Supersonic Twin has been getting all the love as of late).

The Friedmans,Camerons etc and even some new Randalls are all based on the Jose Master volume mods from the 80s. Same basic idea with a few tweaks here and there. The Yeti/Chupacabra and now the King Kong are all along those same lines just without the marketing BS

Re: NAD:ip As the weather is getting colder.

I managed to get 5 minutes in today. I was going to originally skip out on the unknown electros as I don't know a thing about them specwise. However I didn't have anything suitable handy so in they go!

Good to know. I've been lusting after a BE100 for the past year. May just go for a Yeti at some point then. I was at the Vegas GC last month, ready to plug into the BE that they had there and finally get to experience what all the hype was about... but the salesman plugged some wanker and his dad in right as I was going for it and told me that they might be a long time and just blew me off. He knew that I was standing there, wanting to give it a spin when he waltzed over with this kid and his dad who looked like they'd just been playing hacky-sack. Keep in mind that I'm a 46 year old IT professional who was dressed very nicely, wearing a Rolex watch.... not some snot-nosed kid off the street. But evidently, none of that mattered to this "salesman". That was my first bad experience with GC. I've bought a few guitars and pedals there over the years while I was visiting, but those will be the last things I ever buy there. I may stop-in when I'm in town... to try things out. But I'll buy them elsewhere. I didn't expect to be worshipped like some royalty, but I did expect to be treated with more than a "get lost" attitude. Now I know why people on the forums bag on GC workers so much. My wife is the most good-natured, laid-back person in the world (also a well-paid, well-dressed professional). But she was PI$$ED by the whole episode. I was just disgusted and told her that it wasn't worth getting too upset over. Screw Guitar Center.

Re: NAD:ip As the weather is getting colder.

I managed to tear myself away from Farcry 4 for a little while and got the board fully populated. It got a bit cramped towards the left hand side as the turret spacing clearly wasn't done in mind with the TAD caps I didn't realise this until I had almost run out of space so I subbed one of the .1uf caps with a Mallory 150 that I had kicking around.

Now I just need to send the chassis off to get the headshell made and the rest should fly by. Well there is also the fact that Triode electronics haven't even packed my order never mind shipped it yet.

Re: NAD:ip As the weather is getting colder.

I was already impatient to start my hiwatt build... You're really not helping at all!

Nice work as usual btw.

Re: NAD:ip As the weather is getting colder.

Man...you have all kinds of interesting "stuff" on this board. First time I have ever seen blue Holy Grails.:fing2:
What solder are you using. I do not even see a hint of flux.?
