Congrats on the new amp!...unless its an empty box![]()
It came early . . .
. . . mmmm, i'm sure there is a joke in there somewhere, but i will leave it at that!!
Those are cool heads. I pretty much wore out the floor model at a store i worked at back when they were new.
WOW . . . this is very UNlike any preconceived ideas what i might have had about Marshall amps in general.
Talking about Marshall mid-90's - present.
LOVE the clean sound with both humbuckers (SD WLH & A2P bridge) and Tele single coils.
Really warm and thick. Could it be the KT66's that is responsible for it ? . . . or maybe my 2X12 ported cab ?
What ever the reason, i love these cleans. No ice'y harshness what so ever !
And that subtle crunch you get on the Lo Dynamic setting, with the Mid Boost engaged - very nice Black Crowes like crunch.
I also love just how interactive the Body & Detail knobs are.
Probably my fav aspect about this amp !
Still have t mess around with the High Dynamic channel.
So far, i am having fun with the ''clean'' & Low Dynamic channel (s).
THIS is deff my idea of what a Marshall should be like !
Marshall cleans can be very nice. My favorite clean tone is the JTM45 rather than a black face. The DSL clean channel is meant to be extra bright on purpose. But I prefer the JTM45 type clean. Marshalls can get that kind of clean with both EL34s or KT-66s, but KT-66s are great for that.
The KT-66 has a huge bottom compared to the standard 6L6, and its got a lot more happening in the mids, which can give more complex harmonics in the mids. When I run KT-66s in my JTM45 I have to turn the bass down to about 2.
The VM is essentially a four holer type circuit with a post PI master volume, so getting a great big Marshall clean and then the famous crunch is designed right in.
