NAD - Marshall 2266C

Sure, it's actually a couple of weeks old. But I couldn't be arsed to make a thread about it until now. :nana:

It's a beautiful amp. It rumbles, growls and sings better than any amp I've had up until now (including my two years with a DSL100). It opens around 6-ish on the master volume, which is LOUD, but not so loud that it's out of place in a band context. However, it has been stated that I say all sorts of lucicrous **** when I'm around this amp, such as "hm, I think I'll turn it down a little. I can't hear you guys properly" and "I think I'll turn the gain down a couple of notches."

It's also huge (I'm 6'4), heavier than your average 7 year old Norwegian kid, and likes moonlight walks and candlelit dinners.

Oh, and the lights on it look really pimp!

I'm even happier than I thought I'd be with it/the tubes. It seems the doubts that I had about the Vintage Modern came from playing a head at semi-low volumes through a cab with wrong sounding speakers in it. And the Celestion G12C's really make a ton of difference. (It even does teh brootz.)

Re: NAD - Marshall 2266C

Thanking you. Clips will not be released as of yet, due to:

1.) Not having found -the- perfect setting for my playing style as of yet.

2.) Not owning a proper microphone and recording interface.

I could of course get an XLR cable with a jack plug at the other end and a SM57, and run it through my PodXT Live, but yeah...

Re: NAD - Marshall 2266C

I really do enjoy the amp, though. It has a lot of the GRRRRRRRR and BWOAAAARWH that I feel is lacking in most other amps that I have tried the last two years. (A bunch of Engls, Blackstars, Oranges, Marshalls, Mesas and even a couple of Diezel amps.)

Re: NAD - Marshall 2266C

I had the Vintage Modern on my amp shopping list until I bought my JTM45 reissue. Congrats on the amp!!

Re: NAD - Marshall 2266C

Congrats! I've been gassing for a Vintage Modern for a while now - and I already have 3 other Marshalls! :D

Re: NAD - Marshall 2266C

Ultimately I went for a single channel as I use a Blackstar HT Dual for my drive, but I still have one of those on my radar...

Re: NAD - Marshall 2266C

Cool amps for sure, enjot that there beastie.

Stevie, if you decide to sell the JTM I wouldn't mind having it back!

Not planning on it going anywhere for the time being Don, but if I do decide to sell it you'll be the first to know!! ;)

Re: NAD - Marshall 2266C

I love those amps- every time I go to a major store like Guitar Center or Sam Ash it's the best sounding amp in the store. I'd get one but they're still pretty big and I'm trying to downsize

Re: NAD - Marshall 2266C

Nice! I've been wanting to try one of those out for a while now.

Looking at the pic of you lugging it, I feel your lower back pain

Re: NAD - Marshall 2266C

The sure sign of a great amp :)

I always knew that if it wasn't for me wanting to buy it, Don would've been more than happy to keep it.

Edit: and I'm still very grateful to Don for selling it and allowing me the time to raise the money for it

Re: NAD - Marshall 2266C

Kinda odd naming it by numbers in the title. I only knew it by its vintage modern name, or VM. Always wanted to try. Figure I'll love it. Out of my price range, but thinking of thinning down the heard to one killer Marshall.

Re: NAD - Marshall 2266C

Awesome! I think Robin Trower has been using the same series of Marshall?
Yup, him and Paul Gilbert.

I -kind of- agree. For instance, there are a bunch of different JCM800 models, of which the 2203 is the classic hard rock, heavy metal one that Zakk Wylde and Kerry King uses.

Re: NAD - Marshall 2266C

I love Marshall model numbers. They have the loosest kind of logic to them which makes ever-so-slightly more sense than if they were completely random numbers :jester:
