NAD: Mesa content!

Mesa Boogied DC-5 picked up for a steal ($500) at a local pawn shop. It's not for me so much, as it will be my girlfriend's amp for her fiddle in our band. I'm sure I'll get to use it occasionally.

Anyway, it took about 20-30 minutes of tweaking the knobs to find a good balanced sound that wasn't too trebley for her tastes, but we did! I'm sure with some more tweaking (and we haven't even really touched the sliders yet), it's going to sound amazing!

We have a big gig tonight, and it will be seeing action immediately!

It's a 1x12 combo version, so we'll stick with the Black Shadow speaker that's in there for now. We may have to try a speaker swap though, if what's in there turns out to be too bright.

We had some other issues at the show (my pre-amp for my acoustic got messed up somehow) but the amp preformed wonderfully.

The first song we played doesn't have any fiddle in it until the end, and when she came in for her solo, it just blew me away. The tone was so amazing, and you could hear her, which is a big improvement over her old LR Baggs Preamp.

It will take a little more tweaking on the EQ knobs and sliders to find the sweet spots, plus we have a few pedals to try, but overall, this is what we needed.

I didn't mean that you should swa speakers or anything... it's just taht you can unplug the internal speaker and connect the amp to a 4x12 - just like you would if it was a head. That's when the DC-5 gets fun!

That would be fun. I've been thinking my next amp might be a head/cab set up anyway.

Re: NAD: Mesa content!

very cool - congrats and enjoy ... yeah, give that fiddle a mid bump and a little dip up top on those sliders and she should cut right thru pleasantly - nice application for that amp, indeed

cheers
