NAD - Or at least that was my plan...

Came home empty handed today.

I was supposed to present my shiny new Orange Crush head to you all today, but after a long, long test at the store I decided it's not for me.
It sounds great, but it's too fuzzy with heavier gain settings, and I like things a bit tighter. Maybe an OD pedal in front would do it, but I'd prefer not to buy something that will need external help from day one.

So I tried the Boss Katana Head. Legit awesome tones from that thing, but it's digital and someday Boss will release the Katana II or something and mine will reduce it's value to peanuts. I don't want that.

And I would have definitely tried/bought the Jet City JCA22H head if the store wasn't closed for Summer holidays. :(
I'd loved to try the Tubemeister 18 but that's a bit too rich for my current situation.

Also, no Bassbreakers in stock in this town.

So yeah, that's a big nothing for you I've got today. Just venting. :(

Diego you have nice gear. There is no need to rush into something you are not 100% happy with. You are smart for walking away.

Thanks guys!

I'm actually into getting a two channel amp. I'm too dependant on my M13 to get my dirty tones. I thought I was set on the Crush but it's too loose.
My gear's more than alright for me, but chasing the rainbow is pretty damn fun. :D

I’ve had that problem with every Orange I’ve plugged into. I do like the Jet City stuff a lot.

Man. The low gain tones were tremendous. Every cliché adjective like sweet, crunchy, tight, clear and juicy are in place.
Ride the gain knob a bit higher and oops. I have no doubt the correct OD box in front would yield some insane tones, but that's no good as a prerequisite.

I've liked Jet City a lot more than I've liked H&K, those 2 brands have the same dealer in Santiago, so it's easy to test them side by side for me.

I fall in and out of love for doom. When I’m in, Orange all the way. I’ve owned 3 and I’ll probably own more.

Don't buy stuff you aren't in love with. But those Katanas are really good amps. Yes, they will release another version, but Line 6 also just released a an update of the M13- and yours still sounds great.

Re: NAD - Or at least that was my plan...

Well they already did release the new Katana Artist,,,,,,,but that's a whole different price-point.

TBH, I've never felt the Crush series deserves the praise it gets. There's better solid states out there, IMO. Not to say they're not good amps, but they're not as fantastic as some reviews make them seem. I'd rather have a Randall or a Peavey, personally. Hell, I'd take an old Valvestate over a Crush any day of the week.
