NAD: Orange CR120

Jomo's Nimions
Had an f-ing awesome day. Made a new music friend, and we did some trading. He got one of my MIM strats, I got his Orange CR120 and a Laney 4x12. I decided four 12s wasn't enough, and made it a 3/4 stack with my Fender combo.

The Orange is fantastic. I haven't spent a lot of time with it yet, but getting a great sound out of it is effortless. Haven't messed with the clean channel, but rolling back the guitar volume on the dirty channel gets a warm "clean" tone I like a lot. The distortion gets pretty heavy, and the guitar still keeps its personality wherever it's set. I'm really looking forward to getting to know this amp.

Sweet. Congrats!

I've really been enjoying mine (combo version) since I bought it new a few months ago. It's an awesome amp...great fun to play and killer tones no matter how you have the EQ set. (a breeze to dial in) :bigthumb:

The clean channel on the Orange Crush amps will go into a smooth breakup.
And they take pedals really well, and my older than dirt ME-80 sounds fantastic thorough my Orange.

I didn't realize that an Orange amp could be a good pedal platform...cool!

My Marshall Origin 50 is GREAT as a pedal platform. I bought it as a lower-priced Plexi, but it lacks oomph when power-scaled and needs to be way too loud to get natural breakup. I set it for a just-on-the-edge-of-breakup tone which still does cleans nicely, especially using the neck pickup, and goose it with a Friedman Smallbox pedal to get me to my happy rock-drive place.

I've been intrigued by Oranges since the Tiny Terror was released, but I have yet to play or own one.

your description of the origin makes it sound like a plexi actually. a 1959 is bright and clean until its cranked and at that setting its LOUD!
