NAD: Vintage Fender Content

Re: NAD: Vintage Fender Content

The amp I got recently was a blackfaced 74 Pro Reverb. It's a silverface that was restored to 65 spec, with an Eminence Swamp Thang and Jensen C12N, which covers ballsy lows to crystal highs.

Also, Seymour Duncan loves his two blackface Pro Reverbs with his teles and Antiquity humbuckers. IMO, he sounds the best when he's using that rig.

There's a lot of Fender magic in the Pro Reverb, so if you actually do seek out a vintage Fender, make a point to search for Pro Reverbs. They're basically an amp that falls between the Deluxe Reverb and Super Reverb in a Twin Reverb cabinet.

The shop we bought the bassman in has a 66 pro reverb. I should give it a try next time I'm over there, but at 1700 it's a bit expensive.

Nice score. If you want a smaller, lighter cab, Marshall made the 1965 4x10 and 1966 2x12. I have the 1965A with my Bassman 70 and they are great. 35 pounds and perfect width for the Bassman heads.
