Nice score!!! Grab the schematics and check out the resistor just after the decoupling cap between the first gain stage and the second... If it doesn't have a small cap of about 470uF parallel to the grid stop resistor, you can simply add it for the top boost... Do it right and you can drop it later and no one would be the wiser...

Sounds like this could be switchable as well...

you know what... i think i'm just gonna keep it, pretty much the way it is played it out live again last night and it just sounds soo sweet. i do need to get the pots fixed though, they sound extremely scratchy. could i get away with spraying a cleaner in them, or would i need to get them replaced? also, what kind of cleaner would i need if so?

Just clean them with some control cleaner (Deoxit?) from the Rat Shack.
