NAD

Re: NAD

I was offered a Marshall MG cabinet today. 4x12. I thought it would be fun for goofing around to run both cabs but I decided it just wasn't worth it.

Good call. For an extra couple hundred bucks you get so much more cab for your money. I would never forgive myself if I bought an MG for myself.

Re: NAD

I used to have one paired with a Marshall avt 50 watt head.

I mean hey man it didn't sound like one of those gorilla amps but it sure as hell wasn't professional.

The 1965 cabinet is MUCH MORE cab, even being 410. It's solid wood!

Re: NAD

A friend of mine has a MG 4x12. I've not used it, but I've moved it around a few times.

If my mom can lift a cabinet without a problem, I don't want it in any way.

Re: NAD

Jeez . . . that head is huge! And 4 Redcoats. (We need clips.) :D

Haha, the Marshall is a 410.

I haven't heard both together. Tested then separately.

The vox blew my mind. The ac30 channel has so much headroom, it's marvelous. It nailed those Texas blues tones with the neck pickup if my firebird. All that's missing is a tube screamer.

The redcoats where much fuller sounding than I expected.

Re: NAD

Just FYI: the head was $400. Got the cab for $230. I thought the cab was too much but since the speakers are upgraded and in super shape I was willing to pay up.

I get you, the one I had was super light.

I'm posting a short video I recording of me playing some riffs through my new setup, it's late, the playing is sloppy and the amp isn't turned up too loud, I don't have a high impedance cable to use for the cab so I just plugged in a guitar lead and played for a few minutes.

I'll post it tomorrow.

Can't wait !

Re: NAD

If you can find an AVT ( I think it is) cabinet, those are solid wood except for the baffle..well, birch Ply.
they are about the same size as your 4x10, they are smaller than a normal 4x12 Marshall and you could run them both and it would look good with your head. They sell for less than a fullsized 4x12 Marshall.

this is great information to have! Thanks!

Re: NAD

This is the vibe, the heavier channel just for soloing and the more Vox channel for my main sound.

The volume was kind of low so there isn't much saturation but hopefully you guys get the idea.

I'm really digging the 1965 cab. It's smaller than the head and your average 4x12 but still sounds great!
