Re: NAD

Remember when you were young?

I ws concerned that the headroom of the 100 watt was crucial to the Gilmour tone, but I've read where the 50 watt has enuf headroom to get similar tones , which is comforting, becaue I could ot begin to afford a early Seventies DR103. A lot has to do with what amount of speaks u r driving I think.s
Brits, are these things much more available there in th UK?

Re: NAD

No mate, you don't see them very often... You've done good!

They've pretty much gone now since Music Ground shut down for selling stolen classic guitars.

They own the Hiwatt brand now (Music inc is what they continued trading as you can find them on ebay) They don't even have a factory as such for it they contact hobbyist builders on a per build basis mostly.

Also Hiwatt UK & Hiwatt US are two completely seperate companies or were the last time I checked. the US side the trademark is owned by Fernandes I believe which is. Another option is Reeves.

Re: NAD

Thank you Golden One.

I'm not compulsed about the Fane thing..I'm not obsessed about nailing David Glimours sound. Through my Marshall cabinet,The Hiwatt has Floyd tones in there for certain.I'm delighted with this amp. Probably needs a recap by now, but you would,nt necessaraly know it by playing it ; it's reasonably quiet, trannies run cool, and tubes are great, no redplating or any other funny business.. for 1400 bucks shipped I'm happy as a pig in mud .It's no closet queen by any means, but I couldn't ask for more, and it's loud as all holy heck, but perfect for a 4x12. IMHO, I hit paydirt. The vintage tone is other-worldly.Sweet sweet vintage palpable 3D cleans, big bold lows.Almost makes my Traynor Bssmaster redundant.

Maybe one day I'll be able to get a Fane cabinet, but as for now, I'm not going further into the piggy bank.
Right now I'm going to be trying to move my '65 Bassman w/ 2x12 ,and probably my 6505 w/ 4x12. something compels me to keep my Traynor Bassmaster.I also have my 60 watt Sunn200s, but that is a keeper.
Just by moving stuff I got along the way at a profit, and getting a bankroll from my that gear w/o robbing the piggy bank I am thinking possibly soldano SLo 100, , or at the very least a early Dual Rectifier.

Re: NAD

The Gilmour tone evolved and he moved onto combinations of cabinets which included Marshals. The Marshal box should sound fine.
