NAGD: Martin DC-16RGTE

Finally I got rid of my old Takamine, which was pretty good actually. But I wanted to take it up a notch. I feared that Martins in general were a bit too dark/muffled, while Taylors were too bright and zingy. This Martin has something in between, which I really like so far. Very loud! Very resonant. There are 11s on it now, so I'm gonna put on 12s. It's used, and I got it for half the price of a new one. A few marks here and there, but honestly, I'm fine with that. I'd rather not play something that is free from dents - the first dent would really suck. Gonna play it mostly unplugged, but I hear that this Aura prefix system is stellar when plugged in. It can blend the hole-mic and the piezo to your liking, and it also provides some "profiles" that can sound terrific. I gotta read up on that though, because I don't understand how it really works.

'scuse the crappy cell phone pic:

Cool! I played the 000 version at the guitar store a while back, it sounded pretty good and played awesome. Definitely get some 12's in there to help the top resonance even more. Enjoy!

Yeah, the playability on this thing is really something. Much more suited to my hands than my old Takamine. Thanks!

Dots + Rosewood + Binding = Sexxay!

Whether its Fender, Gibson, Jackson or Martin!

I played the maple version a few years ago and really liked it as well. I didn't like the price quite so much so I passed. A used one would be tempting.

I also played the Taylors - the Maple in particular. I wasn't overly impressed with the sound or playability. I also don't care for the cowboy styling touches nor the prices. I think the higher end Martins sound better.

Congrats.
