Name that amp...

a combo or head (preferrably a combo) with a vintage look and feel...that has 30 watts or less with fat/open/airy (fendery)cleans...smooth highs and full rounded lows with middle of the road mids (lol), moderate headroom (more than my Jr anyways)...verb would be nice but not neccesary, easy control layout...vol, master, bass, treb, mid, maybe a prescence...takes to pedals well...one or two channels (doesn't matter, hence pedals) in either a 1x12 or 2x12 speaker configuration???????????????? i have some ideas, but i thought i'd throw this out there & maybe see some stuff i haven't thought of originally?

It's a killer amp. I heard it at the Dallas Guitar Show. Bruce and Lew brought one with reverb. OMG, I wanted to take it home so bad...LOL. I played through the 18 Watt a lot. That's a really nice one too for those wanting something in that power range.

Rivera Chubster/Pubster/Clubster (somewhat vintage looking)

Mesa F30/50 with custom tolex

Re: Name that amp...

although it doesn't quite fit your description, I'd consider a reasonably priced used DRRI.

Re: Name that amp...

you're killing me Terry!!!!!!!

what's the differences between the Blues Deluxe & DRRI?

and Jeff...the F-series is also on the list, but i've never played one?!

Re: Name that amp...

On a budget a used tweed Classic 30 would handle that.... But with more cash there is some doors open for ya for sure...

the DRRI is a reissue of a classic blackface amp, 22 watts, 1 x 12 - a versatile low powered amp. You really need to try one to get an idea of the tone.

IIRC, the Blues Deluxe is based on their '59 Bassman Reissue circuit (correct me if I'm wrong) - 2 6L6s, 40 watts, 1 x 12 , with a modern take on a tweed circuit.
I personally think the Blues Deluxes sounded better than the newer Hot Rod versions, which is likely why they reissued them.

i've heard that...and i played a Blues Deluxe over at MF back in march (but it was briefly) and i really liked it!!!

i may put my father-in-law on a hunt to see what he can score one of those for there with a little scratch on the back panel or something!? it's definitely on my list!

That was gonna be my recommendation too, though it may not be Fender-y enough.

Blues Deluxe or Hot Rod Deluxe (essentially the same thing with a third gain stage) would be good too.

.

If you want a little more "Fendery" than the classic 30, I think the Delta Blues with the 15" speaker works fairly well..Though it's still El84s, it has a little more spank or "american" tone.

And Hoss, the F50 has an amazing clean channel. Kind of like an "ultimate" Fender (cross between BF & Tweed) to JTM-45-ish tones depending how ya set it up. That's the absolute best thing about the amp (and the gain channel ain't no slouch).

Re: Name that amp...

Maybe a fender deluxe reverb. Its been awhile since i played one but i think that would be what youd like.

Celtic Edana w/ KT66's. Your search is over.

VHT Pitbull 45, right around 30 watts in Class A mode.
i came sooooooooooo close to getting that when i picked up my Jr. but didn't due to wanting to snag a bass amp too....well the bass amp deal was a disaster and i still don't have one and now i'm kicking myself for letting it go!!!! wish i could play one or at least hear one!!!

and Scott...a Celtic is definitely on the list as well...do you think the Kt66 tubes would give the Celtic a more fendery and less marshally sound?!
