Nashville to ABR-1 conversion

Re: Nashville to ABR-1 conversion

Thanks man!

To add to your post, I made my own plugs from maple. Trying to find a maple dowel rod in the correct diameter would be difficult, and end grain would never blend as well. I wanted to be able to return to Nashville studs if the need ever arose.

Re: Nashville to ABR-1 conversion

They make these type adapters now, for a very simple ABR-1 conversion, but it doesn't deal with the issue of getting better contact with the wood.

I used the Callaham conversion on my Lester and pulling the old Nashville studs and installing the Callaham studs was easy and a great improvement. I wouldn't hesitate to use Faber's conversion kit either. IMO, changing to a non wire ABR-1 is always a good upgrade.

Re: Nashville to ABR-1 conversion

I bought some of those thinking they were like the ones that thread into wood.

I guess he who dies with the most parts wins :D

Re: Nashville to ABR-1 conversion

It sounds more likely that you were exploring the diverse products available in the marketplace for ABR conversion. Some of them are bound to be better than others. For a quick and dirty cosmetic change to an ABR, they are a fine and economic choice. If you want a better connection to the wood.... not so much.
