3 easy steps

1) disassemble and soak in Isopropyl 91% Alcohol
2) reassemble and soak in WD40
3) wipe down with microfiber cloth


NO SCRUBBING INVOLVED. Also works on nasty tuners, nasty tunamatics, nasty metal pickguards, etc. - metal hardware in general. Greatest visible effect on chrome/nickel finishes and stained "stainless", but works with others too

Nah just yellowish lighting + newly shiny as all hell + bad cellphone camera


Oh wait n/m i ***do*** have a deep yellow ceiling there. Mystery solved :smack:

If you really want a deep clean, use an ultrasonic cleaner.... I bought a small used one from a drafting studio, and it made a big difference in getting the crud out of hardware.

Nope, i hadnt gotten around to setting it...

Just put highE to a hair over 25.5 and staggered it slightly because the sight of straight saddles in a parallel line like the previous owner had was too facepalmy

As someone insightful pointed out, I have a VERY yellow ceiling...with a yellow lightbulb

That looks great however be careful soaking anything with gears or bearings in WD40, it’s more a degreaser than a lubricant.

It also removes the oils that keep it from rusting

I used to clean rusted shovels with it, then realized they were much worse one month later
Clean with it but soak in something else

I would suggest United 101
It's an aerosol that leaves a silicon residue that protects the surface

Lithium grease is also better than WD40 at prohibiting corrosion over a longer period of time, and in general will adhere better to metal. Have used that approach with old rusty tools- actually some bridges as well thinking back to it.

(I am careful with it around nitro finishes.)
