Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

Listened to the sample sounds they got on the site...not very impressed. The first "metal" track sounds like the line 6 "insane" amp model. I'd honestly like to know...does anybody actually use that amp model? Like...anybody?

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

I've been far from impressed with guitar rig or amplitube. Plugin modelers aren't my cup of tea.

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

Hey mike, have ya ever tried an aphex guitar xciter between the XT and the computer? I'm runnin one in front of mine right now and it seems to breathe a little more life into it.

Would that be like running a BBE sonic maximizer? I've actually never heard of the aphex guitar xciter.

I know that BBE makes a similar pedal called the "sonic stomp"...though I've never tried it out. I've used the plug-in version of the BBE sonic maximizer, and if the sonic stomp is anything like that then I'd say that the aphex is far more versatile.

The BBE plugin was kinda like just scooping out all the mids, making the bass huge and kicking up the treble a notch. The aphex, on the other hand, can be *very* subtle. 2 knobs control what frequencies (bass and treble) that you want to "enhance", and the other two control how much you want to "enhance" 'em.

They advertise that "you don't notice that its on until you turn it off", and I'd say thats a pretty fair assesment. I'm not crazy about it in the FX loop of my KRANK, but its real nice for direct-recording.

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

I've tried the demo and enjoy (for the limitations it has it suits me well enough and gives a nice variety and a way to learn something) it but for some reason now it keeps crashing my puter. All I have to do is run it. Some time it waits till I plug in teh guitar and then crashes. On rarer occasions it will run but won't affect the sound. I mean, the guitar will sound thin, as if no simulator was running and there will be noise (as if an effect was on but no guitar is present). Odd.

Any ideas? It was working fine and I've added nothing new.

Also, where can I add these vst effects? I mean, is there another program asides Guitar rig? Preferably freeware?

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

I want to like it but don't. I haven't been able to get anything that suited my tastes out of it, where with the UX1 I have. I suggest get the free demo and try it.

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

The best thing about Guitar Rig 2 is the effects. You can actually run the effects separately as plug ins, which is cool. The actual amp modeling is pretty bad. The best amp modeling software I've heard is ReValver Mk II... http://www.alienconnections.com/products_revalverii.htm This thing gets a lot closer to the sound of real amps, and it has a few effects as well.

Cheers.....................wahwah

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

Can I just say once again that I absolutely can't stand any of the plugin modelers.

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

I only prefer Sansamp GT-2 for direct recording. Use a good quality drive pedal with Sansamp, you can see the good results. Don't forget to use a di box like Behringer Ultra G.

I don't like the sound of these softwares. They are very plastic for me. My second choice is POD XT.

Stop and think a moment. A guitarist uses only one amp and cab. This is a sign of the guitarist. In the softwares, you always lost in the tons of amp and cab models.

Use one amp, use one cab.

This is my choice...:nervous:
