Nazrul not doing it for me.

So, I've got this HSH 6 string parts-caster (poplar body, all-maple neck, 6-screw trem - PTB tone with all 500K pots)

Currently it's loaded with Nazgul/Cool Rails/Sentient.

Love the Sentient - one of my favorite pickups of all time - and I think the Cool Rails complements it nicely.

My problem (as the title indicates) is that Nazgul. It just has this spiky upper-midrange that I'm not getting along with (I'm assuming it's the resonant peak of the pickup) no matter whether I'm playing through. If I was wanting something a little warmer, more balanced - with that resonant peak a little lower, am I in line with thinking a Pegasus is what I'm looking for?

Or would a mag-swap to something else possibly tame the Nazgul?

A Pegasus or Dimarzio Titan would probably be right up your alley.

I thought about doing a Titan, as I already have, and absolutely love them, in my baritone. Maybe it's just my sense of orderliness, but I like - if possible - to keep all pickups in a given axe from the same maker.

I've ordered a Pegasus, at worst it should be better than the Nazgul. Once I get that I think I'll magswap my Nazgul to some sort of Alnico and see if that tames it a little.

I think the pegasus is what you want. I haven't tried one yet but all the guys here that have love them and have nothing but praise for them.
They cover a lot of musical ground.

To me, the Pegasus is the one you want here. Some people don't like that mid-thing the Nazgul has, and they usually love the Pegasus, and I am guessing you will be too.

Yep! I like it. I have the blackened version in a 7 & 6 string. Although, I think I like the nazgul best.
