NBD: Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass in Olympic White

Was browsing craigslist, sometimes a gem pops up if you keep looking, and I came across an Olympic White Precision Bass for $100. Seemed like a nice deal so I went over and grabbed it. Came with a Deluxe Fender Soft Case and I swapped the black 3 play guard for a white single ply. Overall plays a thousand times better than my affinity: better feel, better sound, better everything.

Later on this week I'll be putting flatwounds on it and further on I'll probably be putting in a Fender '62 Pickup, new wiring harness, hi-mass bridge, and the classic pickup and bridge covers. The neck has a small chunk of rosewood taken out between the 7th and 8th frets but it's still a fine player. Might swap it for a maple neck later.

Great value, and with your upgrades it'll be a smoking bass.

Great looking bass. Why maple?

Re: NBD: Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass in Olympic White

I like rosewood on a sunburst precision, like a 1969 with a tortoise shell pickguard, but the maple neck would be a nicer match to the olympic white. I don't plan on changing it soon, but if an opportunity appears I wouldn't mind taking it.

Finished it up and it all the bricks fell into place perfectly. I went with a SD Quarter Pound for the new pickup instead.

...Well that looks better. Love my VM maple Jazz Bass. Enjoy :)

Wow, that is an awesome looking bass. I am getting ready to upgrade my black Squier Jazz.

Nice! I just setup my bass player's new Squier P-Bass with a P/J layout.

Dropped in a full QP set, sounds amazing and I am shocked how good a bass it is. Even stock it was fine.

Good luck with it!

Very nice ! Played the same bass, but Jazz version & loved it.

Some of these Squier's are super nice & you can't beat the price, esp. if you're gonna pimp it out. I grabbed a double bound Classic Vibe Tele ($100), turned it into an Esquire with the BG-1400 (already had the pickup), 5-way switch & it kills :beerchug:

For $100 that is a STEAL. Those go for around $300.

Got it from a craigslist ad. Played nice as is, got it home & went to town on it :D

I want one of these basses now..... I'm sure it sounds as great as it looks :bigthumb:

Re: NBD: Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass in Olympic White

Nice score dude. Looks great after the cosmetics. Bet it sounds fat too with that QP.

Sweet Bass, nice steal on it too, love the look, white and tortoise shell pickguard, it pops!

Re: NBD: Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass in Olympic White

I picked up a Squire VM Jazz in natural. Nice looking bass and plays well. Very pleased.
