Holy sh*t! And I thought I'd seen the perversity get as high as it could go on this forum! :help:
Not that I disagree with the sentiment. I'm not even a Gretsch guy, and this guitar has me breathing heavy and pitching a tent! Talk about Epic Win. This guitar just raised the bar of awesomeness around here!
Thanks fellas. Some of you will be happy to know that this will be getting PLAYED. No collector crap here. It always pisses me off when I see people with nice stuff that they don't ever use and this thing was destined for a better fate. For such a pretty guitar, I was surprised how well it "rocks" with some gain. In addition to rock/pop stuff, I play a lot of alternative-esque stuff (I know, shocker given my user name) and it can sound downright nasty in the best way so I fully intend on using it for a lot of that.
I analyze stuff way too much, but when I was looking for a second guitar it had to meet every bit of criteria I was looking for and it was downright surreal how well this fit it. This came at the right price (I'd never be able to afford the kind of coin that they warrant new), at the right time (I bought it on my 30th birthday and I had just finished paying my car off) and most importantly, is inspiring me to write more music which is what a nice instrument "should" do.
This is my quintessential dream guitar; I thought about what I was going to be playing 10 or 20 years from now and it's this. Everyone should have at least one guitar that ticks all the right spots and I feel really blessed to have literally stumbled onto this one.
Congratulations on the new guitar! Similar story with my ESP LTD PB-500. I remember when it first came to market a few years ago, I desperately wanted one but couldn't afford it with my part-time retail job at the time. Back in 2011, I saw one at a local shop by chance and played it. It fit like a glove, but didn't buy it. Fast forward to a year ago, I go into the store again and it's still hanging on the wall! After negotiating the price down, I took her home. The shop was sad to part with it, but were glad it went to a guy like me instead of some metal head shredder 13 year old.
