Neck Bucker That Matches Well With SH-5

Re: Neck Bucker That Matches Well With SH-5

People like to forget about the 78 neck model. Your custom pickup was wound for EVH based off an old PAF and the 78 is meant to match another pickup wound for EVH. I'd say it's almost like an overwound Alnico II Pro if you have experience with that.

Interesting concept. Although I'm not actively trying for EVH tone with this guitar concept here... just another attempt at a Gib-O-Strat.

DiMarzi-who? :knockedou:ugh1::18:

Never heard of them. :knockedou

(I don't swing that way)

Funny, thought you were about the most open minded around these parts. If you'd try the Air Norton you would be impressed. Duncan doesn't offer anything equivalent.

I'm actually extremely close-minded due to my advanced age. And suffer from Alzheimer's... wait, what?

No, but seriously - I'm prejudiced against DiMarzio for entirely illogical (subjective) reasons... one exception: the Super Distortion.

And I've always (34 years and counting) loved Seymour Duncans. I'm 100% positive SD has something that will fit my need.

If they didn't, then I'd look elsewhere.

Re: Neck Bucker That Matches Well With SH-5

I have a Jazz N with mine, but a Demon would work fine. So would a 59 depending on the guitar.

Re: Neck Bucker That Matches Well With SH-5

Although, I like the Seth N, it would be better with a PG or another Seth. I have mine paired with a Burstbucker 3. If you want more warmth, a PG or a 59 would work in a pinch.

Re: Neck Bucker That Matches Well With SH-5

I used to be a little bit prejudiced towards Dimarzio. Experience with the D-Activator set cured that.

Simply too many companies offering so many models. Finding the best tone for ones goals transcends brand loyalty for many players.

Took a look at your gear review page. Excellent mix and honest reviews. Where is the Duality review SD must have given you a set.

Re: Neck Bucker That Matches Well With SH-5

My favorite thing about the 59 neck is that it sounds "standard" for rock.

Re: Neck Bucker That Matches Well With SH-5

saw nothing about Duality.

Re: Neck Bucker That Matches Well With SH-5

The question remains the same, why didn't you get a set to review?

Although you are wrongfully assuming that you are owed an answer, I am not getting a Duality for the same reason I didn't get the EMG RetroActive product. Anything else is in post #30.

Re: Neck Bucker That Matches Well With SH-5

So for now, the question for myself is:

"do I want mids & loose bottom (PGn) or scooped mids & tight bottom (SH-2n) in my neck pickup?". :33:

Go for the Jazz, and if it is too open or scooped, replace the magnet with an A2.
