Is a neck ever really straight? I've removed a wizard neck from my Ibanez to do a fretjob and put in new inlays, but no matter how I adjust the truss rod, it is never truly flat from end-to-end. If I get 0-position to the 14th fret flat, then 15 thru 22 start to fall away. Any degree of loosening from that aforementioned flat position will start to open a curved gap in the 0-14 position and raise 15-22 up to flat again. It's like there is a static "hump" around that 14th fret.
I'll need to sand the fretboard straight with the appropriate 430mm radius sanding block after installing inlays.
Any recommendation on what truss relief starting point I should use? I'm thinking that straight from a flat 0-14 with the 15-22 fall-away is the way to go. And perhaps I should preserve that some of that fall-away contour?
