Neck HB to go with CC in my Strat?

I recentley re-installed a Custom Custom in the bridge position of my Strat and I do believe it's a keeper. I am really loving the tones I'm getting using OD and distortion. What would be a suitable neck HB in my Strat with the CC? I like using a neck HB by itself for clean and slightly overdriven tones, and I like the neck and bridge together for clean tones. So a good blend is important. I've never tried a neck HB in a Strat so I don't know what to expect. I have'nt had much luck with neck HB's in other guitars, as they always seem way too bassey for me. I would also be running the two pickups to the 5 way switch so I could try some differant coil combinations in the #2 and #4 positions. A neck HB in a Strat is new territory for me guys so any and all suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks.

I guess the "standard" answer would be the APII. The CC/APII It is a very common combo and many people loves it. I never have tried the apII but I did have tried similar pickups and a low output alinicoII pup seems what you are looking for. Thoose have less bass and treble that alnico V pickups, with enhaced mids. So good for you since you didn't want too much bass. And, since the guitar will be and strat you will have plenty of treble from the wood.

Yep...I suggest one of those three alnico 2 pickups. If you want a nickel cover go for the Seth. My Hamer Monoco Super pro came with a nickel covered bridge CC so I installed the nickel covered Seth Lover for the neck pickup.

If you want a zebra or black pickup go for the Pearly Gates or AIIPro. I'd try the PG myself.

I use the PG neck with a 59 trembucker in my Strat...but it'd be great with the CC too.

I'm a huge fan of the PG w/ a CC. I wouldn't disagree with any of those other guys choices, though. (And you shouldn't either!) I think the PG makes it a real flexible combo. I'm a LP guy, but I occasionally go through periods of "let's futz with the volumes and tones on the two pup position"and just find some really cool stuff. I think PG and CC really contrast and compliment each other nicely.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Hmmm, the Pearly Gates or the Alnico Pro II. They both sound like good possibilities. I'm using a Peavey Classic 30 and because the amp tends to be a bit darker I'm thinking that the clarity of the Pearly Gates might be the way to go. I'll tell you what, I think the CC was the icing on the cake for me. I've been trying to take some of the edge off of the C30's OD channel without resorting to internal mods. About 2 weeks ago I installed an Eminence Cannibus Rex and what a HUGE improvement that made in taking away some of that edge. The CC made it that much better. The amp can still bite but it's much more articulate than it ever was. Great rock tone.

I agree a2pn, or a pgn or a seth-n.

If it were me, I'd go for the PGn because of its extra uppermids, which I think would give you a more "sparkling" middle position with the CC. ;)
