Neck Humbucker Help: Clear, No Mud, Cuts, Good SC Split

Like the Title says, I'm looking for a humbucker that doesn't get muddy in the neck in an alder HH guitar. Will match with a Custom 8 in the bridge. Doesn't have to be super high output, just enough to be clear, articulate, and maybe have that kind of Slash-y single coilish tone and will split really well if need be.

Cheers!

Pearly Gates for vintage output.

LiquiFire, PAF Pro, Evolution or Gravity Storm for something hotter.

All these will have a somewhat acceptable split sound as far as split humbuckers go.

For me, definitely not a PGN, too warm and rounded for my tastes. 'Clear and articulate' brings to mind JazzN. But that's not necessarily a Slash tone.

I don't really hear Slash's tone as being single-coil-ish. It sounds like a warm A2 humbucker in a Les Paul to me. Non-muddy articulate neck pickups: JazzN, Humbucker from Hell, SethLoverN, Paf Joe.

Of those the only one I like split is the PAF Joe.

None have any kind of body like an APH-2N.

I think you're looking for something that really can't exist. To get a good slash type tone and no mud frtom a bucker, it has to be fairly low in output. That makes it nearly impossible to get a good split tone, as the individual coils tend to be too weak on their own.

I use an Alnico II Pro in alder, and it splits really well, and doesn't sound like it does in an LP. If you want brighter, you can go for a Jazz, or even a bridge '59 in the neck (get the 4 conductor one).

The Duncan neck humbuckers will get you that no problem. Just swap in an A3 or UOA5, turn the pickup around so the screws face in, and use a resistor for partial split and you're gold.

I have CC and Demon in my alder guitar. Demon in the neck still has plenty of highs and by controlling your tone, you can get Slash tone effortlessly. It's not as hollow as '59 because it has more mids. It does split well too. Just gimme this pickup and I don't need A2P, Jazz, and '59. PG is different beast though.

Finally someone suggested the Demon. That was my first thought as soon as I read the OP's post.

Definitely the Demon!

JazzN, Full Shred N, or Demon
Forgot about Sentient and Distortion N as well

Several Demon comments. Do you have the screw coils facing the neck? ...I had a Demon in the neck of my BC Rich Mockingbird, and I could not get it to chime at all. I think it was the guitar, though. I sold it.

My best clear, no mud, chimey neck humbucker is my uncovered A3 Seth/Ant hybrid. It's insane.

I have them facing the bridge of my short scale guitar.
