Neck humbucker recommendation

But that sounds like we're back to the same problem of a 59n being boomy in the neck?

I have experienced the boominess of the 59 (even with a A4 mag) in the neck of both my Les Paul and ended up replacing it with a PGn. But I think with a maple neck and a basswood body. It will work pretty well.

I love fat bass for jazz playing. The 59 is my favorite hum for that. While for regular playing I don't like the boom and I don't even mess with full size hums in the neck. I just go sc size or mini.

FWIW I didn’t have a boomy problem with the A259 in the neck in my ash tele. I did have it low and used it just for jazz so YMMV. Boomy is an issue with my 5e3 (it induces flatulence) so I think I would have noticed.

for what? your 80s hair glam cover band with whammy bar dives?

no thanks. I had one for many years.

A PAF Pro has enough highs to be a great neck pickup, and a mid hump that lets it match the EQ of a Custom Custom, and isn't too hot to be able to match outputs.

YMMV, and it would not be my choice for Hair anything.

Alnico 2 Pro neck, that is what I did put in my Charvel SoCal 2014 along with a JB. ALso, split + SSL-6 middle makes a fantastic clean straty sound that is not thin.

Hello,

Just trying to help out.
In my Hamer Explorer I have a ‘59 bridge pickup in the neck position.
In the bridge position sits a ‘78 Custom Shop.
This pairing, in my guitar, works VERY well.

Take Care
