if it's Not a 2k $ + over Ax ~ Why not get rid of the H-B , build or buy an s.c ring and install an Single Coil P-up ? as I always have many choices lying around

I still like the tone of humbuckers. Plus I've played single coils in the necks of other guitars that were also boomy in the low end.
