Neck P-Rail wiring using only 2 push-pulls ?

hi. first post here. I want to install a neck p-rails with a standard bridge humbucker that i'm not going to be splitting (JB, DD, Alt8, or open to suggestions for hardrock-metal:headbang. I want to be able to get all 3 sounds from the p-rails (hum-p90-sc... that's for the blues ), but don't want to drill more holes in my guitar (Parker nitefly-m). it has a 3way switch, volume and the tone pot has a push-pull switch. if i replace the vol pot with a second push-pull, is there's any way to wire them so that i can get the 3 sounds from the neck?. not too interested in the tripleshot 'cause my parker doesn't originaly have mounting rings. I made a diagram that i think can do this, but not sure it works and i think as a side effect i have an on-off switch in my vol pot :doh: would appreciate input on the diagram and/or new working diagram. thanx

I know this diagram has 2 P-Rails, but if you ignore one side of each push-pull then you should be able to get all 4 sounds out of your lovely pickup.

Alternatively, you could wire your bridge humbucker to the other side of your push-pulls so you can get lots of options there as well, but that's up to you

thnx... seams easy enough...

the original tone pot on my nitefly is 250K and I have a spare that's also 250, but the original volume pot is 500k. what's best for this arrangement, 250 or 500K?

also... what's a good match for the neck p-rail? i know the best match would be the set or the p-rails2, but sense I don't plan on splitting it, seams a bit of a waste ... looking for blues from the neck and metal from the bridge.

The lower your pot values, the warmer your tone. Generally, humbuckers are used with 500k and single coils with 250k. It will work fine with 250k, but it will be slightly warmer.

I have no personal experience with metal buckers, but a friend of mine has an Invader which sounds pretty cool...

There are a lot of options for a good bridge metal pup from SD. JB, Custom5, Invader, Alternative-8 or even p-rails hot. All these come with 4 conductor cables and they can be wired for split/series/parallel.

There are several components missing for a good choice. What type of a sound are you after? What kind of guitar are you planning to put these in? What type of woods are used? What kind of an amp are you using? Do play with low tunings? Thin or thick strings?

mostly i'm into blues and several types or hard rock and metal. these are what i personally like, but i also play in bar bands and it's usually pop crap. that's why i decided on the neck p-rail, to be able to get several types of clean tones and use some overdrive for blues. the parker nitefly-m is a single piece mahogany, bolt-on neck, with the parker composite fretboard (also has a fishman piezo system in the bridge). i usually play through a line6 podxt or a spiderIII 120w amp. standard tuning with d'addario 10s

I'm getting the fishman piezo system for my Warmoth, how do you like it? Do you have the preamp or just the bridge??

thnx...

my guitar came stock with the fishman... it's pretty good. of course not as good as the real thing. the preamp (active) is the on-board power-chip. it has a trim-pot to level the volume with the magnetic PUs,. way surpasses the stock mag volume if you crank the trim-pot. no on-board eq.
i've used direct to the pa and also with some eq. you can get very good results direct, as long as the house engineer listens to you. the best sound i personally got from it was with a yamaha magicstomp. didn't try it out with much other effects, but there are a lot of "acoustic" effects that are specifically used with electrics with piezos in them

Custom 5, Custom Custom, or Duncan Custom ? ... to compare the 4.
