I’ve had a 59 and a stag mag but the happiest I’ve been is with SSL1/2 and a true velvet.
I don’t go for balance btw, I like the bridge HBs to bring a bit of a boost and go more for balance when split.

The Sentient is in my opinion the best match for the '59/C. When the 59/C first came into existence, people would use the leftover coil from the '59 to create a '59/Jazz hybrid. The Sentient manages to get pretty close to that, albeit without the "3D" effect created by the mismatched coils.

The guy that came up with the '59/Custom Hybrid idea, a forumite with the handle Bach2Rock, would recommend a '59/Jazz hybrid. most specifically the '59n screw coil with the JazzN slug coil.
As both p'ups gracefully takes mag swaps, depending the preferred style of music played, I'd recommend the following mag combos:
* Jazz, Blues, Classic Rock: A3neck/A2bridge or A3/UOA5 for a more "crunchy" sound.
* All of the above plus Pop, Modern Country and some '80s Rock: short A4 neck /Long A4 bridge
* Everything and the kitchen sink: Long A4 neck / A8 bridge

Can’t speak to HH Strat but a Seth pairs with a 59/C similar to a Jazz, just slightly darker maybe, or more mid heavy.

I haven't tried it yet, but I've got a Custom 8 in the bridge of my alder guitar (basically a super strat with a TOM bridge) paired with a 59 neck with an A4. I really love the neck pickup. Sounds great without being too bassy. I've been contemplating switching the Custom 8 for a '50/Custom A8 for something a "bit less" in the bridge position. Just another thought.

I have mine paired with a Jazz N, albeit in an all-mahogany Fret-King Esprit 5.
