Alder body, maple neck and fingerboard Super Strat. Already JB bridge is great. SSL6 midle alone is meh but notch position with Jazz split is fantastic. Now I want to remove the Jazz try something different for leads in the neck. This Is available for me: Sentient, Pearly Gates neck, Alnico ii Pro neck, Screanin Demon.

What would you choose and why? Comments appreciated.

what dont you like about the jazz? i actually like the ssl6 in the middle with 500k pots. with 250k, its a bit dull.

You might try an Alnico II Pro in the neck: just add an A2 pickup in that Jazz. I don't think the Sentient is different enough than the Jazz to consider here.

I do use a single volume pot of 500k, it is not bad but not exciting. The reason I want to try something different is when I am playing rythm with middle or notch position I like to switch to the neck or bridge for that natural volume boost you from not positons to full HB for some single notes to stand out or just bring in a bit more crunchy power chords then back to rythm with good note definition. Unfortunately the Jazz is a bit bright and want something warmer thicker. Also, when playing high gain I find myself engaging an eq change for soloing adding mids and cuting a bit of high end for the Jazz to work for me and I would like to try something that can do that better without engaging the EQ change, and have thicker notes in the high e string on frets 12-22.

If I may loose that magical notch positon rythm sound it is ok for now, I can try a few other options like different split/parallel or putting an SSL-1 in the middle.

By the way, my original intention was to buy a 59 neck but it is always out of stock around here, they sell them like pancakes. :(

I might try Demon or A2P. Demon if you want bright, tight, A2P if you want smooth, mid, liquid.

Yep, I think smooth, mid, liquid is what describes what I want, not sure if the A2P is too much of that but that sounds like something I really want to try. Having a nice sounding HB clean sound is something I would appreciate too but I think I am more into changing my lead sound in the neck for now. Also, having a single coil in the middle helps with clean sounds so I am not concerned about this for now. If it was an HH guitar then I definetly would beed a good in between for leads and cleans.

If you have a jazz there, just swap the magnet for an A2 and voila, you have an A2Pro. No need to even rewire. It’s one of my favorite neck pickups.

I don't have have spare magnets and usually you cannot get them around here for this kind of swap :( I wonder if I can do pending pickup swap in my Wolfgang Standard, maybe I can "canibalize" the pickups and get the A2 from it.

That’s a bummer since it’s much cheaper and easier. And easily reversible! I have also done magnet swaps from other guitars in a pinch but it’s not ideal :)

Not sure where you live but this is a listing from the eBayer I (and others in the forum) buy from. He may sell globally through the eBay Global Shipping program.

I would give the Sentient a shot. It was designed to pair with the Pegasus and Nazgul. It should work just fine with a JB.

It would work great with a JB. I think it is a little tighter than the Jazz, but not as bright as a Full Shred.

mmm, I don't need tigther for now. I already cut the lows a little bit in the EQ for the JB to get better definition, I am concerned that would make a tight neck to sound thin. That is why now I want to try a thinker PAF like sound in the neck, I have already used bright/articulated ones like Jazz and Full Shred, which I ilked and are great but I just wana go a different sound.

Screamin Demon in the neck is simply amazing (just my $0.02)

I was really tempted to try this, specially for the good split sound everyone talks about, I think it would be great for the HSH notch position. Not sure if triggering for this or the A2Pro neck.

Just get that A2 magnet for the Jazz and you will have the A2Pro, and you can see if that is the amount of 'buttery-ness' you are after...all for less than $10. If that doesn't work, order a Demon. A Black Winter neck should be on the table, too.

I just found also the Whole Lotta Humbucker neck to be available. What do you thing bout it for leads with a JB? Honestly the sound demos sounds very nice, it is indeed a full sounding PAF. It is still hard for me to get the sound of the A2Pro neck in the demos. My only concern is I need a 4 conductor HB, is the WLB a 4 conductor?

the wlh is 4cond. i run that exact setup. wlh neck, jb bridge. love that pairing! both pups sound great individually and they blend well in the middle too

I just pulled the trigger for an Alnico ii Pro neck, it will be in the neck of my Charvel SoCal which turned into HSH. Now I need to make some to install it.
