I was wondering the same thing myself... I like the matte finish on the bobbins, that's a neat look...

I've seen that pic with Allan and his Strandberg. I've never seen any pics of him using it live, though. To be fair, they are great guitars with a cool, interesting neck that he might not particularly like. But I don't know. When I saw Allan this year, he was using his black Carvin and a Steinberger, but I wasn't close enough to see the pickups.

I agree with you. And every time I see a matte finish it really catches me off guard because I'm so used to seeing gloss finishes. Wilde Pickups are now offering a matte finish for their L500 series. That's a nice look as well, especially with the contrast of the twin blades.

Do you think Allan uses his Sig Seymour in his personal guitars? There's a good chance that his Carvin has Carvin humbuckers in it for contractual/endorsement reasons, but then again maybe it's a touring guitar and it's loaded with Seymours...

^this is what I've heard (with double screws) but I don't have confirmation on that, and I was too far away at his show to see what kind of pickups.
He was, however using 2 rented Twins for his clean sound, though.

Would a Double Screw 59 (neck) measure @8.13k just like a stock 59? It would most likely use the stock A5 magnet as well??
Just wondering if I did have an H/H set-up would this make a nice match for a Holdsworth bridge?
Would any other magnets work nice in a Double Screw 59, such as an A2,A4,A8, or ceramic?

Also, what effects would it have on the Holdsworth if I were to swap to an A8, or a double thick ceramic respectively? Can someone describe what each magnet would do to it's character.

I'm just trying to get some ideas from across the board on how I want to go about doing this.

Well, it is Allan, so no telling how he altered the formula further, since it was from the Custom Shop anyway. I've head it described as a neck 59 with double screws, but that might just be because it is the closest production pickup. My guess is that MJ would know this stuff. BTW, Allan never uses any pickups in the neck position, though many of his guitars sold as 'signature' guitars have these.
