Neck pickup to match an A8 Screamin' Demon...

Hey guys, I have an A4 '59 in my Yamaha Studio Lord along with an A8 Screamin' Demon. While I love the A4 '59 with the Distortion in my Yamaha SG1000, I don't think it quite fits with the A8 Demon. I have been leaning towards swapping it out for something like a Jazz or possibly a stock Screamin' Demon. I am looking for a neck pickup that isn't boomy, that will give great clean tones, do well with gain for leads, and mostly pair nicely with the Demon. I was curious about the Pegasus at one point, but I really feel that the Jazz would be a better match.

What do you guys think? Thanks!

With my Demon 8 i have the jazz neck with alnico 8 too , and aired ( removed the bar between slugs and magnet ) .
It is tremendously good !
The A8 brings more mids , power to the jazz , witch still have the precison shared with the Demon .
You could also try the Full Shred neck with A8 , it should be good .
Or a regular Demon is interesting in the neck too , though much darker and powerful than the Jazz , more liquid but less complex .

Thanks guys! LtKojac, I was thinking the Sentient when I posted above. I don't know why I said Pegasus. I never thought about using alnico 8 in a neck pickup. Do you have any clips of your aired A8 Jazz fab.regnaut? I would be interested in hearing it.

Thanks again for the suggestions!

Just a standard Demon is what you want. Can't get any better than that paired with a Demon A8 in the bridge.

Well, I bet a Demon with a UOA5 would sound good too. Put a little more meat on it without losing clarity.

My recommendations are either the Jazz neck, or the Sentient. I'd pick the Jazz if you plan for more cleans from the neck, and the Sentient if you plan for cleans or lots of high gain. The Sentient will compress a little easier under gain, too.

Thanks all! It looks like there are 4 contenders. I definitely play more cleans in the neck, so that it is pretty important to me. I am thinking the it is between the Jazz and the Demon, but honestly I don't know that I have heard the Full Shred neck? Can anyone point me to a video that is a good representation?

I'd say start with stock Demon and - if you need it - swap magnet with A4 or UOA5 later.
