For Blues / Rock / Modern Country - Alder body / Maple neck / hardtail Strat - I have tried the 36th Anniv neck and it was aweful, no definition and soft in the lows, highs were ok. I also have the PAF Joe and it is good in the lows, definition and articulation but a little too much single coil type vibe in the highs.
For reference, FWIW -The PGn is a nice neck pickup and I didn't really care for the Jazz neck. I want stick with a Dimarzio set at this time.
For a change, I'm thinking of getting an Air Zone for an identical guitar but looking for input from those with experience with it and input on which neck pickups you would suggest to pair with the AZ and AT-1?
For more discussion / information, I also tried the 36th bridge pickup in the bridge position and it sounded ok yet needed more power and more solid lows. I installed the Norton in the bridge and didn't like it. It sounded like it was wired in parallel with itself but was not and had plenty of power, the highs sounded bad and mids were strange but lows were good. The AT-1 and Moe Joe work fine in the bridge, but I like the treble and drive of the AT-1 best - Great pickup.
Thanks
